Who's the Good Word?

John 1:1 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him,

and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. 6 God sent a man, John the Baptist, 7 to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony.8 John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light.9 The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.

The Word is Jesus!! Jesus is The Word!! If you ever want to get to know the one who God created the world through, the answer would be Jesus. In fact. the scripture says in verse 3 that "nothing was created except through Him." The scripture goes on to say in verse 4 that "The Word gave life to everything that was created and that life brought light to everyone!!" So if you are wondering the purpose of that light verse 5 says "the light shines in the darkness and that the darkness can never extinguish it!"

We live in a world of darkness and the only light that can shine in that darkness is what comes from Jesus, and those who follow Jesus have that light shining through them. That is you and me. Never underestimate the power of the light within you because that light is not powered from anything from us, but solely from Jesus, The Word. John the Baptist was sent to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony. Scripture says that John was simply a witness to tell about the light. We, like John, are witnesses to this light who is Jesus Christ and we should be willing to give our testimony of who Christ is and what He means to us so that the lost can be saved. We must give testimony of Jesus, the Good Word!

When Jesus, the Word, became human and made His home among us He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. Can we ever understand fully what His unfailing love really looks like? Oh we read about the cross and we experience the peace of salvation and the power of the Holy Spirit moving in our heart, but to totally understand His unfailing love is basically impossible. Why? Because the unfailing love of Jesus is immeasureable and endless!! I can only speak from my own experience with His love and explain that His forgiveness never ends and the blissful moments of conversation with Jesus as my Savior and my friend are too precious to reveal apart from saying that His light pours through my soul and gives me a reason to live.

Our spiritual birth as children of God is a birth that connects us to God and that is all because of Jesus and the sacrifice He made on the cross. As we approach Passion week we remember just where our spiritual birth comes from and what it took to make it happen and it is so satisfying in the midst of darkness to experience light. John writes in 1 John 1:1-4. 1 We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life.2 This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.3 We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and heard so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.4 We are writing these things so that you may fully share our joy.

I share that joy with you, other believers who are living their pilgrimage every day and coming to realize that the light of Jesus is for all to shine in the darkness. So shine!!! God has uniquely created you to shine and be a witness of The Good Word, Jesus Christ. And we will shine together as brothers and sisters of our heavenly Father as we live in God's forever family. Jesus is our Savior and He is The Good Word.....

The Pilgrimage continues......
