Supreme Over All

Supreme (def) - (of authority or an office, or someone holding it) superior to all others. When I stop to gas up my FJ, I always get the lowest grade and cheapest gas. To get supreme would mean a big cost difference, and I can't bring myself to make the leap, plus I really cannot afford it. Every once in a while, I will take the leap and fill up with the supreme gas, and my FJ almost has a spasm when I take off because of the higher octane. Supreme gas is the best, and if I could justify the cost, I would fill up with it every time.

Jesus is supreme in every form and fashion, and to be filled with the Holy Spirit is a higher octane of living. Jesus made everything in the heavenly realms and on the earth. Jesus existed before anything else, and He holds it all together. Jesus is the head of the church, and the church is His body. Jesus is the beginning, and the first in everything and through Jesus we are reconciled to God. SUPREME!!!

Paul wrote all of this truth down in a letter to the church at Colossae. Colossae was a very unique church, in that Paul never visited the church itself, so this letter has a lot of very powerful foundational truths in it to fully equip the church fellowship. We know Paul did not visit the church in Colossae because of what Paul wrote in Colossians 2:1. I want you to know how much I have agonized for you and for the church at Laodicea, and for many other believers who have never met me personally.

Paul is so intense in his letter and in Colossians 1, he really hammers home who Jesus is to them. Colossians 1: 15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see

and the things we can’t see— such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. 17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church,

which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Conclusion: Jesus is one high-octane Lord and Savior, and He is ever-present and supreme over ALL. Never doubt Him and always depend on Him, because He is ever dependable!! Christ is Supreme!!
