What the Clearing Fog Reveals

ree

It seems like we have been in a fog for many years, and when in that fog, mediocrity and "settling" begin to creep in without us knowing it. It is not until the light of Jesus shines in the darkness, and we acknowledge the light, that we can truly see things with clarity. Clarity is always available, but in the apathy of life, we ignore the "obvious" truth of God because we believe it can't be found. That is so dangerous, because the clarity of God in all areas is totally necessary, and we are bankrupt without pursuing God in the clarifying search where He shows us the depths of His Word, and we can begin to see the fog clearing.

The "clarity of scripture," also known as "perspicuity," is the doctrine that the Bible's core message is understandable by ordinary people who are seeking to understand it. God's Word is very clear in message and function, IF we ask, seek, and knock! It is critical for us to "abide" in Him and His Word, and without the abiding, our roots won't grow deep, and the result will be, yes, FOG! A clear vision for our life will be substituted with a personal want that most of the time doesn't end up being God's vision.

In my years of ministry, I have experienced some "fog" moments and some very clear moments when His light showed me clearly what He wanted. I have found out that if I want my way in something, I can even find scripture, or the facsimile thereof, and make my way the clear way. Not realizing I have invited the fog into my life decisions, and my faithwalk is then compromised. We see life a lot differently if we are seeking God honestly in His Word, and the fog of my thinking begins to clear, and there it is!! God's will. When the fog clears and I see clearly what to do, it is such a wonderful experience that is not tainted by my own thinking or anyone else's impression.

The warning: If you are letting others' opinions replace the truth of the Word of God in your thinking, then here comes the fog, and it is very difficult to see clearly. The only clearing ingredient that will work is God's Word and nothing less. Deepen your time with God and research the Word because it is its best commentary. If you are in fog, you have probably been given an invitation by our enemy to just stay there, and eventually it will clear. That is a lie. As followers of Jesus, we are not "static" in any area of our thinking, because He is always showing us the next steps, but we can't see them if the fog is there. Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus the following in Ephesians 5:16 Be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

I believe we can want what we want so much that we will put God's stamp on it, but in reality, we are living in a fog we created ourselves. Surrender is a tough pill to swallow, but it is a necessary medication to find God's clear will and way. My advice: SWALLOW THE PILL and let God be God, cause we are just good at making fog. God's clarity will only be found in a "fogless" place, so pursue it, and He will clear the fog. Just be ready for God to show you what your real heart is in the matter, and without the fog, everything really clears up, life itself.
