Humility

God takes care of those who serve humbly. Not expecting anything, but thankful to just be a part of God's plan. Humble people can be taken for granted and taken advantage of so easily because their hearts are turned toward the one they love, and that is Almighty God. King David was very humble, and in Psalm 100:1, Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. ⁵ For the Lord is good.

His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation. Humility is more than "lip service," and words can become cheap if our humility is from the head more than the heart. David was a man after God's own heart, and His humble heart was a direct reflection of his relationship with God. Paul realized the need to be humble and his humility brought thankfulness, which in human terms is considered a fleeting, short-term emotion. But to the one who is in a relationship with God and that relationship is growing, this humility is a part of their moment-by-moment faith walk. Paul was thankful to the believers in the church in Philippi, and his letter was basically thanking them and God for the financial support they had sent him. Philippians 4: ⁶ Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Even in all that God did through Moses, Moses was humble and thankful, and God protected him from those who didn't understand his anointing. Namely, Aaron and Miriam, Moses' brother and sister. They were mad at Moses because he married a Cushite woman, and the following interaction is found in Numbers 12:1. While they were at Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron criticized Moses because he had married a Cushite woman. 2 They said, “Has the Lord spoken only through Moses? Hasn’t he spoken through us, too?” But the Lord heard them. ³ (Now Moses was very humble—more humble than any other person on earth.) They were willing to kick 'Moses to the curb' because they disagreed with his wife's choice, but God protected and acted on Moses' behalf in the following verses. God protects His own!! Numbers12: ⁴ So immediately the Lord called to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam and said, “Go out to the Tabernacle, all three of you!” So the three of them went to the Tabernacle. ⁵ Then the Lord descended in the pillar of cloud and stood at the entrance of the Tabernacle. “Aaron and Miriam!” he called, and they stepped forward. ⁶ And the Lord said to them, “Now listen to what I say:“If there were prophets among you, I, the Lord, would reveal myself in visions. I would speak to them in dreams.⁷ But not with my servant Moses.    Of all my house, he is the one I trust.⁸ I speak to him face to face, clearly, and not in riddles!    He sees the Lord as he is. So why were you not afraid to criticize my servant Moses?”⁹ The Lord was very angry with them, and he departed. ¹⁰ As the cloud moved from above the Tabernacle, there stood Miriam, her skin as white as snow from leprosy. When Aaron saw what had happened to her, ¹¹ he cried out to Moses, “Oh, my master! Please don’t punish us for this sin we have so foolishly committed

God stands with those who humble themselves under His anointing and his calling. James said it this way in James 4:¹⁰ Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. When God elevates His called, we respond in humility and thankfulness, and the Lord's confidence is extended to us and through us, and that humble heart continues to bow before the One who calls us. I have seen God put me through things that were well beyond my capabilities again and again, and I am thankful and very humble before God that He enabled me to do those things. And it proves that He is my strength, my hope, and my all in all. I always HAVE to say GOD DID IT, because He did. I am humbled by His goodness and His love for me, a sinner. Moses led the children of Israel across a sea, wrote the first five books of the Bible, and was still considered the most humble man on earth. That humility did not keep God from moving in a powerful way through his life, but only elevated the fact that God was the one doing it. Humility is definitely not a weakness, but when humble before God, it is a tipping point for God to lift us up to new heights in our lives. Far beyond what we thought we were capable of at all. Remember David? Here are some of his words about this awesome God and what God does with a humble heart. Psalm 145:14: "The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down." Habakkuk said an awesome words about his subject and it hits me in a good place. Habakkuk 3:19: "The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to tread on the heights."

Lift up your head with God's strength and he will take you to new heights you never thought possible because HE IS GOD!! Read Psalm 34:¹ I will praise the Lord at all times.    I will constantly speak his praises.² I will boast only in the Lord;  let all who are helpless take heart.³ Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.

⁴ I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.⁵ Those who look to him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.⁶ In my desperation I prayed, and the Lord listened;  he saved me from all my troubles.⁷ For the angel of the Lord is a guard; he surrounds and defends all who fear him.⁸ Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!⁹ Fear the Lord, you his godly people,  for those who fear him will have all they need.
