What Choo Talking Bout Willis?

Years ago a funny TV show, Different Strokes stormed on to our TV sets and captured the hearts of many, as it became a hit show and made those actors stars....for just a while. Little Gary Coleman would turn his head slightly and cut his eyes toward his older brother Willis after Willis said that Gary had done something and he would say those famous words, What Choo Talking bout Willis? From the first moment Arnold said those words we listened for him to say them again and again in upcoming episodes.

The writer in Hebrews 1 reminds us of who Jesus is and who is talking when He talks. In Hebrews 1:1-3 says God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. God became man in the human form of Jesus Christ. As we look at the birth of Jesus during this Christmas season we have an opportunity to refocus our thoughts toward who Jesus is and thus realize who died for us on the cross. Jesus is the exact representation of God's nature. Verse 3 says these exact words 3 And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. The religious leaders of the day could not grasp the fact that whatever Jesus did was exactly what God would do and it upset their applecart of who God was to them. Apparently they had taught a skewed form of the Law of Moses to fit their religious minds and missed who God really is as they rejected the Son of God. The writer of Hebrews brings this all back into focus for us He explains the power of Jesus. Not only the power of Jesus, but the heart of Jesus, which is the heart of God.

It is important for each of us who are born again to know who we are living for and who lives in us. So we celebrate Christmas, the holiday season comes and goes. But the life of God, Jesus lives on in those who call Him Lord. Every day God continues to reach out to you and me with the hope and peace that only He can give. Jesus is right here with us as He has left us the Holy Spirit as our comforter in desperate times, our hope in times of hopelessness, our power when we feel powerless, and our strength when we feel so weak. This Christmas season is a reminder of who is present and working in our lives 24/7. Why? God speaks through His son Jesus, and the pure and present Jesus is God and we should listen when He speaks through His Word. Because Jesus is the Word. You know, The Bible. So get in the Word and hear God speak and then when God does some house cleaning in your life and challenges you in a fresh way to allow Him to make changes He will explain himself through the Word and He will answer you when you say What Choo Talking Bout God? God will do a fresh, new work, and the rest will be your growth in the Lord through His Word. His "living" Word.

Instead of Christmas just being a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus, it can be a time to refocus our walk to walking with Jesus, the Jesus of the now and forever. This present day Jesus is the exact representaton of God. The God who created the universe, our world, and our lives. He has taken great care in creating His creation and He knows what is best for His creation and we find that "best" in the Word of God, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. You might say "What Choo Talking Bout David?" To which I would say, "Our God is an awesome God, He Reigns from Heaven above. With wisdom power and love, our God is an awesome God. If you haven't been in the Word lately. Get in there now and get to know our awesome God. Use this Chrismas season as a stimulus to get more involved in a deeper walk with God. We all desperately need Him.
