Hebrews 11: 13 All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth.14 Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own.15 If they had longed for the country they came from, they could have gone back.16 But they were looking for a better place, a heavenly homeland. That is why God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
We are born and live on this earth and for some this is it! But for those who know God there is so much more. There is a final promise that God has made of a heavenly home where we live forever with Him. REAL living will be the end result and that living is in a distant place prepared for us by Jesus. Jesus calmed the disciple's fears and worries in John 14 by saying the following John 14: 1“Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me.2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.4 And you know the way to where I am going.”
This promise from Jesus is real and will happen one day for all who are born again. If Jesus returns for us before we die in an instant we will be with Him. Praise God. All of those who believed and trusted in God's promises also trusted in That Distant Country where we will live forever in new bodies made for heaven. Whether we understand it or not, we long for heaven and the thought of new bodies without pain or distress, total peace, total happiness, without the pressures this ole world puts on us. We long for it because when we receive Jesus we come to realize this is not our home and we long for our real home in heaven. We don't sink roots here that could keep us from going to that heavenly home and our life here is very transitory.
Trust God in all of these truths and the thought of your heavenly home will secure the peace that passes all understanding for your daily life. This is not our home! We are made for That Distant Country called heaven and Jesus made it all possible. Trust Him as your live your daily life here on earth and get to know the truths of God through His Word and soon He will be coming again. That promise you can depend on.
