As I wrote in my last blog, scripture says there were two trees in the middle of the garden. One was the tree of life, and the other the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, our lives are rooted in Jesus, His salvation, and His wisdom to walk correctly in our faith walk. Today I want to speak to the necessity to follow Jesus' knowledge and apply His wisdom to that knowledge per the Word of God.
In John 14, Jesus says something so profound and necessary to our faith that we almost overlook the importance of His Words. John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” Home in on the words, from now on, and the awesome truth that we do know Him and we have seen the evidence of Him. Jesus is the Word, and the Word sets us free in many ways, but the most important is the capacity to live a life of freedom and wisdom in our faith walk. The following verses in John 1 speak to this very truth, and it should enlighten our minds into how to access the wisdom of God. This knowledge or wisdom is found in the Word of God, and Jesus is that Word. John 1:1 In the beginning, the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God 2 He existed in the beginning with God. 3 God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. 4 The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.
In a world of darkness, the only light that can pierce through it is Jesus, and His Word is Jesus piercing through that darkness. Beyond any suppositions, guesses, or speculation is the Word of God, and Jesus imparts His knowledge to us in the form of wisdom. Jesus is our tree of knowledge, and the very tree that God would not let Adam and Eve access after their fall into sin, is the very tree Jesus made evident to us through making us right with God. The inexhaustible knowledge of Jesus is available through our faith in Him, and the abundant life is driven by this knowledge and enables us to live a life victorious in our faith walk. No excuses. What was forbidden to Adam and Eve because of their sin and forced exit from the garden of Eden, has once again been restored to us through God's grace, and this unequaled wisdom from God is found in the Word of God, the Bible.
We have access to the mysteries of God, and still we try to read mass scriptures without finding the deeper meaning because our hearts are so involved in a works-based attitude, and we sacrifice the deeper things of God to make ourselves feel better about what we have done. If you are wondering, there is a deeper walk with God in His Word, and when you slow down, dive deep, and discover it, you won't go back. This is why we call it "Bible Study." The way to a new attitude and commitment to getting deeper into the Word of God begins with the attitude and heart of the Psalmist as He wrote in Psalm 139: 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.24 Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life. The path of everlasting is the path to a deeper walk that opens up a fresh discovery of perfect knowledge and perfect wisdom.
Run on that path to God, and He will meet you at your deepest need with His deepest truth. His promises, not mine!! Come back to life, and you may feel a very recognizable emotion as God runs to you with His Word. Much like this found in Luke 15: 20 “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.
The Tree of Knowledge is once again available for access. Eat from it.
The Pilgrimage Continues,
David Warren
