Help Me I’m Melting!!!

witch melting

Our story is much like that as we see in Romans 12:21 21 Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.  Dorothy was the good in the story and she unknowingly defeated the witch by trying to throw water on the fire that had started on the scarecrow and it accidentally hit the witch and melted her.  It was no accident that Jesus came and defeated death, hell, and the grave.  This was prophesied and the power of Jesus was everything needed to win that victory.  1 Peter 1 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.  This is our time for dancing and celebration and that should be the overwhelming stimulus for us to live our lives.  Not in defeat, but in victory.  The result of this victory is some great life changes for all of us who call Jesus Lord and Savior.  Look at what Peter says to do in 1 Peter 113 So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. 14 So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. 15 But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. 16 For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I am holy.”

The evil that was a part of our pre-saved life is to be done away with and yes, MELTED!  Some reject this change in perspective and willingly go ahead and pursue worldly ways of living, but this should not be!!  Apparently falling back into a worldly way of living was a great temptation or Peter would not have felt a need to address it.  Daily time in the word of God and a daily time of prayer and powering up is necessary to keep from falling back into our former way of thinking.  The old needs to melt away and become a dead spot on our Christian walk.  Here is the promise that goes along with that way of thinking 1 Peter 23 For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God. 24 As the Scriptures say, “People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades. 25 But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.

Evil needs to melt away and stay melted!!  Satan is no longer “your huckleberry.”  Jesus Christ is the only person you need to live this life of victory over evil and the ways of the world.  Time to put out the fire of the past and in the process defeat evil and let it melt away to give you the new life promised to all who come to Jesus.  That new life is REAL!!

The Pilgrimage continues….
