Agreement

Agreement (def) - a shared understanding, a mutual decision, or a coming together of opinions between two or more people. When Jesus made an agreement with Peter before He left, He was making a binding agreement with one who had denied even knowing Him at His darkest hour. Peter was the one who vehemently denied even knowing Jesus when asked by three different people. Before Jesus left, He chose Peter to be the one to spearhead his operations on earth, and His binding agreement was bound by His grace and His blood. Peter answered Jesus’ questions, and Jesus left the ballgame in His hands, and their agreement was a strong one.
Have you ever made an agreement with Jesus? Have you kept your part of the agreement? If you have, then be encouraged and keep your hand to the plow, metaphorically speaking. The deal Jesus made with Peter is found in John 21:15-17. Not much was said, but much was accomplished by our Lord. This was the time when Jesus truly became Lord to Peter, and the verses go like this. John 21: 15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?”Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.”
Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him. 16 Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?”Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.”
“Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said.17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?”Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.”Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep.
Peter was right when He said, Lord, you know everything, and Jesus does, and when we commit to Him, it is an agreement like no other. This is when Jesus becomes more Lord than Savior, and He is running your life. If you love Him…..
Jesus believes in love, and we should too. When a man and woman get married, they agree, and that agreement is based on their love for each other, no matter what happens. Jesus might speak the following words over your marriage, and He might say, “Do you love each other?” Your answer would surely be, Yes, Lord. He might follow up with, “Then feed your love with forgiveness and commitment, and show the world what it means to really love. This agreement is filled with grace, which translates into love, and your love deepens over time. Jesus might also say, “Do you love me?” To which we would say, “Yes, Lord, you know I love you. Then He might say, “Then love each other as I love the church.”
Agreements are meant to be kept, and Jesus set the standard, so live for Jesus out of your love for Him. Grow in your marriage out of your love for. your spouse. It all fits, so do it God’s way.
