Faithfulness in Four Easy Steps -3

ree

SURRENDER - Here is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. This is where we "get in the game," and in this game, we need the power to live this life of surrender, and we need to trust in the Lord to show us His ways in this way of life. Surrender is a very radical thing to do. When we surrender, we "give up." If you have any pride problem at all, you will have a problem with surrender because it will make you perceive that as a weakness. It is according to who you are surrendering to. In a battle, one side will realize that they can no longer win the battle they are fighting, and then they throw themselves at the feet of their enemy, without reservation. In our case, when we surrender to God's will, I realize I am not capable of fighting this battle in life in my own power, and we surrender to God. Surrendering to God is our expression of saying, "Jesus, take the wheel!" When surrendering to God, we realize that fighting His will and His ways are fruitless, and we begin to trust God as never before.

The great thing about surrendering to God is that we see His plan is much better than ours, and He begins to impact others because of this change in attitude. What happens is our will bows to His will, and our life warps into a whole new realm of thinking that "shows" we are following Him. That is true faithfulness, and that faithfulness is beyond compare. If others around you don't have that surrendered heart, they will not understand you and can even, at times, thwart your change. Be sure to be around people who understand your heart when you surrender, because it will make you a different type of person. You are more focused on Jesus and Him alone, and you will grow in leaps and bounds in your faith walk.

Ask God today what He wants you to do to become more faithful, and don't be surprised if He says, "Surrender." I would advise you to do just that: "surrender it all."

You can do it with God's help. Surrender it all to Him and see your life take a leap forward.

David Warren
