Can You Feel the Beat?

ree

Rhythm in our faith walk is vital to keep us moving forward, living in the flow, and in tune with God's will for our lives. My youngest son, Seth, is a very good drummer, and when he was growing up and trying to do the elementary drum beats correctly, I told him after a while, "Now FEEL the beat and let God give the feeling", to which he took a major step forward in his ability as a drummer. The same thing is very important for our faith walk as we pray and live in the rhythm of our walk with Jesus. Some may think it is silly to try to "feel" your faith, but I am not one of those people. To quote a new friend, who is a drummer, "When you feel the kick drum in your chest and the cymbals crash through the air, that's not just sound- it's heart, it's passion, it's you, the drummer giving everything you've got. The drums drive the music!! The question is "Can You Feel the Beat?" If not, maybe you need to connect to Jesus at a deeper level and see what happens.

Our lives are lived for Jesus, not in feelings, but in faith. When living in faith, the feelings come out of that foundation, and then a house is built on top of that faith, and the result is a beautiful life of freedom and abundance. Jesus said it this way in Matthew 7:24:

“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.” The word of God is the perfect Word of God, and to stay "in:" rhythm with the Father, we must follow it to find our "rhythm" in life. Are you drumming a beat, or are you just beating a drum without the purpose and direction that only Jesus can give?

When we are synced with Jesus, it affects not only our lives, but the lives of everyone we meet, and that is our witness and our walk. Not just making noise, but making noise God can use to lead someone to Jesus. Get in God's rhythm and then " beat the drum as loud as you can," and God will use you to impact the world. Can you sense God's rhythm in the following scripture? Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Believe it "beat the drum!"
