Best of the Best
Hebrews 7:22 so much the more also Jesus has become the guarantee of a better covenant.
When we think about how special Jesus is to each of us who are born again, we have to start with God’s love. God made covenants with the earthly priests who were representative to God’s people. There were many priests throughout the years because they only lived so long. Then God would initiate another priest to fill that spot and thus be a go-between for Him with His people. But, Jesus. Oh, Jesus!!
God’s only Son, sent to die once and for all for the sins of the world. In Hebrews 7:23-25 says it all. Hebrews 7:23 The former priests, on the one hand, existed in greater numbers because they were prevented by death from continuing, 24 but Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. 25 Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Jesus is the Best of the Best!! Our attitude and life should reflect a deepening relationship with Jesus that is established through His every constant, living, presence in our lives. Remember, Jesus defeated death, hell, and the grave and ushered in the greatest priesthood given by God for you and for me. An eternal priesthood that guarantees our sins forgiven. Look at what the writer says in Hebrews 7:26 For it was fitting for us to have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, separated from sinners and exalted above the heavens; 27 who does not need daily, like those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins and then for the sins of the people, because this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. 28 For the Law appoints men as high priests who are weak, but the word of the oath, which came after the Law, appoints a Son, made perfect forever.
Jesus’ death on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of the world, which means yours and my sins. Words cannot express the depth of love we should have for Jesus, our great high priest. Jesus is the Best of the Best!!! The grace we live in every day should reflect our love for our Savior, our Redeemer, our Great High Priest, our Jesus!! If we would capture just for a moment this great sacrifice of love it would radically change our personal world and thus change the church. Start BELIEVING again and see just what Jesus will do in your life. It will be life changing and world-changing.
