A Glorious Moon Shot
In Isaiah’s prophecy for the children of Israel God gave warnings to His people to get things right and follow His wisdom and not the wisdom of those following foreign Gods. The world’s wisdom is like the Armin Van Buren song Blah, Blah, Blah. It is actually voiceless and ignorant to the real truth that is found in the word of God. The words are so empty and hollow they don’t make sense and it sounds like Blah, Blah, Blah. Look at God’s Word through the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 28:10-13 10 ‘Da, da, da, da, blah, blah, blah, blah. That’s a good little girl, that’s a good little boy.'” 11 But that’s exactly how you will be addressed. God will speak to this people In baby talk, one syllable at a time – 12 and he’ll do it through foreign oppressors. He said before, “This is the time and place to rest, to give rest to the weary. This is the place to lay down your burden.” But they won’t listen. 13 So God will start over with the simple basics and address them in baby talk, one syllable at a time – “Da, da, da, da, blah, blah, blah, blah. That’s a good little girl, that’s a good little boy.” And like toddlers, they will get up and fall down, get bruised and confused and lost.
God has made all of this so simple. It is like a child could understand it, but yet, those who follow their own ways can’t see the forest for the trees. In his scripture God even makes an effort to address them one syllable at a time so they can keep up, but to no avail. In verses 14-20 God goes on to say through Isaiah that they have had their chance and they have been taught the truth, but now it is time to live it. The scripture is listed below.14 Now listen to God’s Message, you scoffers, you who rule this people in Jerusalem. 15 You say, “We’ve taken out good life insurance. We’ve hedged all our bets, covered all our bases. No disaster can touch us. We’ve thought of everything. We’re advised by the experts. We’re set.” The Meaning of the Stone 16 But the Master, God, has something to say to this: “Watch closely. I’m laying a foundation in Zion, a solid granite foundation, squared and true. And this is the meaning of the stone: a trusting life won’t topple. 17 I’ll make justice the measuring stick and righteousness the plumb line for the building. A hailstorm will knock down the shantytown of lies, and a flash flood will wash out the rubble. 18 “Then you’ll see that your precious life insurance policy wasn’t worth the paper it was written on. Your careful precautions against death were a pack of illusions and lies. When the disaster happens, you’ll be crushed by it. 19 Every time disaster comes, you’ll be in on it – disaster in the morning, disaster at night.” Every report of disaster will send you cowering in terror. 20 There will be no place where you can rest, nothing to hide under.
God will have His day when Jesus returns, but until then we are to share the message of hope that can change any person’s perspective to line up with God’s will. The world will continue to turn its back on God, but we must not follow this world’s teaching. We must cling to the truth from the Word of God and of course, that truth is straight to the point.
For people who don’t turn to God and disregard his lovingkindness through Jesus. Romans 2:4 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
For churches who don’t have a passion for the Word of God or a passion for winning the lost. Revelation 2:5 5 Therefore remember from where you have fallen, and repent and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and will remove your lampstand out of its place—unless you repent.
For those who follow the wisdom of this world and ignore God’s ways. Proverbs 14:12 12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
In the prophecy given to Isaiah by God, there is a definite mention of the lackluster condition of the people of Samaria. In verse 7 God says Now, however, Israel is led by drunks who reel with wine and stagger with alcohol. The priests and prophets stagger with alcohol and lose themselves in wine. They reel when they see visions and stagger as they render decisions. The dulling of the mind that is brought by alcohol is a forewarning of disaster, because even the priests are reeling from it and it is confusing their minds. The continued weak convictions of those who know better (the children of Israel) has led to a dangerous relationship with God and He is going to respond. The world and all its knowledge has no wisdom about how to best live our lives and those who follow even a little of that way of living are lost at best and on the wrong road. Linkin Park has lyrics to one of their songs that surprisingly speaks to the condition of those following Jesus. The chorus is listed here. I’ve become so numb I can’t feel you there Become so tired So much more aware I’m becoming this All I want to do Is be more like me And be less like you.
Sadly enough those lyrics hit the spiritual nail on the head when it comes to the condition of most Christians today. We try to become more like what we want through the world’s filter and less like Christ through the Lord’s filter. We have become enamored by ourselves and fallen into thinking we are the light instead of following the light. Tozer said it this way; The moon will say “Look at me and the light I share in the dark” but the sun will say, “You have no light. You are just reflecting the light you get from me.” I like that don’t you? Just remember believers, we are nothing without Christ, but all things are possible with Christ. Just don’t leave Christ and His Word out of this formula. You cannot reflect a light you are not receiving and the darkened world needs the light. If we are going to be more than conquerors in this lost and dying world then we need to be reflecting the light of Jesus and He will be the difference maker in every situation. Jesus said in Matthew 19:26 26 Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
We don’t fight our battles with human power, but with the power of the Holy Spirit. Time to trust the Lord and call on Jehovah God to come in power in His presence and lead us to a higher place of living. Remember, we are in the world, but not of the world. 1 John 2 says 15 Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. 16 For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. 17 And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.
Choose God and you live!!! Choose the world you die!!
