John 1: 29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 He is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’ 31 I did not recognize him as the Messiah, but I have been baptizing with water so that he might be revealed to Israel.” 32 Then John testified, “I saw the Holy Spirit descending like a dove from heaven and resting upon him. 33 I didn’t know he was the one, but when God sent me to baptize with water, he told me, ‘The one on whom you see the Spirit descend and rest is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”
Wherever we serve, we must always point to the One we are serving and that is Jesus. John had told the people that the Messiah was going to come and He did. Jesus was in line to be baptized by John and even though had a strong group of followers He bowed His knee to Jesus, the Son of God. John states that he did not recognize Him as the Messiah, but when He saw the Holy Spirit descend on Him like a dove, he saw that Jesus was the fulfillment John had been looking to come. In verse 34 John states these very words where it says verse 4 I saw this happen to Jesus, so I testify that he is the Chosen One of God.”
John said "There He is. The Son of God!" What a great person to point to, the Son of God. Whenever we speak of Jesus and His salvation for all who come to Him we must always point to Him and not us. When God moves in a group of people the leader of that movement might have a tendency to take credit for what is happening. It is at that point that person must point to Jesus as the One!! We are slaved who serve the Master and we serve Him gladly. When the Holy Spirit moves we need to let go and let God and point all to Jesus, the Chosen One of God.
To keep it real it is best to tell of Jesus' salvation and then give God the glory for that salvation and everything will be in the right order with a right heart. No one else saves but Jesus. No one else sends but Jesus. Jesus is the one we point to and thus we give God the glory. Acts 4:12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.” Who Are You Pointing At?
