When Saul was met by Jesus on the road to Damascus, his life direction changed immediately, and Jesus had a purpose for Saul's life after He was born again and filled with the Holy Spirit. Ananias was given specific instructions by the same Jesus who met Saul on that road to Damascus, and Jesus gave Ananias a hint of what was going to happen through Saul's life. Acts 9: 15 But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel; 16 for I will show him how much he must suffer in behalf of My name. As an instrument chosen by God for this special purpose, Saul was an intricate part of God's plan, just like you and I are in our service.
I know some who are serving in very specific areas of ministry that are impacting our world and the kingdom, and these chosen instruments surrendered to the call of Jesus and He set their lives into motion. 1 Peter 2: 9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’sown possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. God chooses to set us into motion to serve Him through His specific call on our lives, and we are people who give our lives to God and live as His own possession.
When we share the gospel with a lost person, we never know just how important it is to lead to a saving faith in Jesus and a chosen instrument for God's will. If they never hear the gospel, then they won't have a chance to get their power turned on and live their purpose for Jesus. We are flipping light switches all over the world when the powerful message of the gospel is released, so people can choose salvation and then realize the perfect will of God for their lives from there on. What's next is the plan God has for our lives. Where would Nineveh be without Jonah? Where would we be without Paul? Where would I be without the gospel message preached at First Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri? God has a plan, and that plan begins the moment we are born again. Choose God, and you choose a perfect plan for your life. Salvation awaits, and then your abundant life of purpose.
