The Word on the Street - You Are You
Psalm 139:13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
YOU ARE YOU!! What a strange statement, but very, very true!! The last thing our enemy wants us to realize is that God has uniquely crafted each of us to live a very unique, personal, powerful life. No more blending in with the wallpaper. No more hiding in mediocrity! No more "Someone else will do that!" God has made each of us live a life of purpose, and that purpose is found in our relationship with Jesus. When we accept Jesus, God turns the power on!!
I had some back problems a few years back and I went to a wonderful chiropractor who lined everything up in the right place in my back and then she said "Ok, your power is on!" Because of turning the wrong way, or lifting the wrong way, or just moving around my back had gotten out of alignment and yes, my power was turned off because everything was out of kelter. When the chiropractor made my adjustment she moved those things back into the right place and the power and blood flow started working as they should. My back had been reset to the place it needed to be for my body to work at its best level.
In sanctification, we have many adjustments that take place for each of us and those adjustments turn the power on for the first time. Then our continued growth through the study of the Word of God continues to make adjustments when we get a little, or a lot, out of kelter. This is the life of a follower of Jesus. Paul wrote to the Galatians in chapter 5:16 So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.
God loves us so much that He has given the Holy Spirit to each of us individually to minister to us and guide us in our walk. What the Holy Spirit does in each of our lives is done just to us and for us. You are uniquely called, uniquely made, uniquely equipped to live your life and no one else is like you. Yes, you are special to God. You might liken it to being a "teacher's pet" in the way we see it. If you were the only person on this earth and you needed Jesus' death to pay for your sins, God would have sacrificed Jesus just for you! Some people may have a problem with you being so special to God, but God doesn't have a problem with it. Just read the Psalm 139 scripture above and you will see it is evident. God loves you with everlasting love. The prophet Jeremiah prophesied the Lord's words as follows Jeremiah 31:3 Long ago the Lord said to Israel: “I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love, I have drawn you to myself. In this prophecy God shares his love for a "people" but Jesus "ramped that up" by giving each of us a personal walk with God, where God directs our steps and hears our individual prayers.
The Apostle Paul explained it this way in 1 Corinthians 2:10 But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For His Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. 11 No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. 12 And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 13 When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths
YOU ARE YOU! I hope that now makes sense. What does knowing this do for the follower of Jesus? THE SKY IS THE LIMIT! There are no limits to what God can do for you and through you. We are created for a purpose and God is our purpose! Every soul is precious to God and guess what? Each of us is God's favorite! A prideful, arrogant person will have trouble with that statement being said about you, but if you have an open, honest mind you will see the truth in it.
The enemy is going everywhere to minimize each of us and lessen our purpose, but don't buy into that kind of thinking. Read the Word and the Word will tell you how to live this life of victory that God has ready just for you. We see even more how awesome God is by how He can take all of these individuals and bind them together to work out His great plan of salvation. God does all of this through one person and that person is our Savior, Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
YOU ARE YOU!! And God has such a great plan for your life. Get into His word and see how it is speaking to YOU!
