Today, I will be writing about the King named Ahab. Ahab was by far the worst king of Israel, and to top it off, he married a woman by the name of Jezebel. She was even more evil than Ahab, and she got him to worship foreign and satanic gods. 1 Kings 16:30 But Ahab son of Omri did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him. 31 And as though it were not enough to follow the sinful example of Jeroboam, he married Jezebel, the daughter of King Ethbaal of the Sidonians, and he began to bow down in worship of Baal. 32 First Ahab built a temple and an altar for Baal in Samaria. 33 Then he set up an Asherah pole. He did more to provoke the anger of the Lord, the God of Israel, than any of the other kings of Israel before him. Jezebel's manipulation of Ahab's life and his heart was strong, and the spirit that gave her the power she had was an evil spirit. God would become so angry with Ahab, and He sent a prophet named Elijah to deliver the bad news when it came, and it came very often. All Ahab ever heard from Elijah was bad, and it was The Unwelcomed Message.
This is what happened to Ahab because he provoked the God of Israel, and he was the king of Israel. His reign was one of turmoil, and his life choices provoked God's anger, but still, God would forgive him if he would repent and turn back to God. It is a wise life choice to never provoke God in any way. Because of Jesus, we have the grace to cover our sins, but bad choices can still draw us away from the will of God, and then we are on shaky ground for life choices.
When we surrender to God's will and seek Him for our life choices, we find a freedom in our faith walk that draws us closer to Him, and not further away. James wrote to draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. The opposite of drawing near to God is running away from God, and that provokes a response from our Heavenly Father. Paul would again and again tell those in the church in Rome to give their lives, even their bodies to God because of all He had done for them. In Romans 12 Paul writes 1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
In the same way that God would forgive Ahab for all the evil he did, God gives us mercy and forgiveness in the times we are not seeking Him. Life Lesson: Seek God, and He will show you how to live your life. Run from God, and you are allowing Satan to direct your path more than God, and that is so dangerous. God's love is real and lasting and never fails, but we choosing our own way, and not the way of the Lord, will lead us into a bad place that is the result of trying to live life on our own. The old Jezebel spirit is still in the world today and you need to run from any type of leading from it. It is evil. You may think you can make it through life on your own, but guess what? You need God every moment of every day, so surrender to Him and He will guide you and enable you to live this lfie of victory. Begin today and you will not have any Unwelcomed Messages from God because His yoke is light and easy and He give us the strength to handle the weight of the world.
