The Riches of His Glory

Updated: Sep 3

God's Glory is an awesome thing, and to get to experience it has to be the most incredible thing that we can experience as born-again believers. If we think in very human terms, we might cause the glory of God to be less than it actually is and thus minimize not only HIs glory, but God himself in our thinking. That is a major mistake, and we must STOP thinking of God in little human ways from little human minds, and think of God from a scriptural and spiritual perspective. I hear more Christians try to explain how powerful God is in ways that make it seem like they are saying, "Poor little God. He can't handle anything." NOT TRUE!!

God is all-powerful, whether we believe it or not, and the problem for born-again believers is that we know God saved our souls from hell, but we miss the impact of the abundant life promised to each believer. Look how Joshua responded to God's glory in Joshua 5:13. When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?” 14 “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord’s army.” At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?” 15 The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told. WOW! Let me say that backwards. WOW!! Upside down. MOM!! However you package it, God's glory is very humbling, and we must acknowledge the fact that we must respond in reverence and honor. He is so worthy. Joshua's response was to fall face down before God, and then Joshua's next response was "I am at your command."

We lose sight of God and who He is if we ignore His glory, and that is the beginning of a path of mediocrity and weak faith. We as humans want to explain the whys of our faith and totally ignore the who of our faith. God is the who......nuff said. God's glory is here and He is near to His children. Isaiah prophesied about the Lord in Isaiah 6:1. It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies!  The whole earth is filled with his glory!” God is the only one who gets any glory at all. Not us.

Paul writes and tells us of one of God's many promises that I rely heavily on, and it is all about God's provision. Paul writes in Philippians 4: 19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. 20 Now all glory to God our Father forever and ever! Amen. We see God's glory revealed in Jesus and in Hebrews 1:  The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven. Jesus wants us to realize God's glory is found in Him and He prayed the following prayer in John 17:Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.

When you receive Jesus by faith, you realize His glory is the Father's glory, and in that glory are the many riches in life promised by God to us, His children. Don't water down the presence of God and His provision for you and me. Don't try to humanize God, because He cannot be held back from being Almighty God. Someone needs to hear this today, and God knows who you are and how much your faith has been beaten down. Time for that to stop and then start believing in God again. Let the following verses minister to you today as it has to me. Ephesians 3: 20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen
