The Church Alive -2

Writer's picture: David WarrenDavid Warren

If the church is to come alive and once again be a force for presenting the gospel, there must be a change in priorities. As human beings who are Christians, our desire to follow religious exercise can cause our focus to be on the lesser things. Our number one priority, per the teaching of Jesus and the teaching of Paul, should be presenting the message to a lost and dying world and then making those new converts into disciples. When we make disciples, those new disciples take the freshness of their new life experience and share their testimony with all they have in their circle of influence. The message of the gospel is so alive and impacting that it will draw others to the point of salvation. Those who have been discipled will be equipped to lead them to a saving faith. Paul wrote this to the Christians at the church in Ephesus in Ephesians 4:11 Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. 12 Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. 13 This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.

God has given these gifts to "the church," and the reason so many churches are not reaching the lost is that those gifts are not flourishing as they should. All of these gifts are given to be used to share the gospel message and then make disciples. A person cannot become a disciple of Jesus until they are born again, but then, then, THEN they are to be led to a deeper walk that involves them realizing the gift God has given them to follow Jesus. It is incumbent on the church to equip them to grow that gift and let it flourish. If that part of the process is not followed through that new believer will actually digress into just a "religious" person who tries to follow a bunch of religious rules. That is not a Spirit-filled life!!

When this process is followed through, the result will be the church coming alive and thriving as never before, revival will be seen, and the impact will once again make a difference in a lost and dying world. YES, IN AMERICA!! Don't cheat on the process God's Word has given us, and your church fellowship will thrive and come alive. If you do cheat, it will be just another dead church, which is probably already dead anyway. I'm just saying. John wrote it this way in 1 John 1:This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth.

A church alive is a church that is willing to do ALL the Bible says about sharing the message of Christ. The Old Testament shows us God's power vividly, and foretells of the day we now live in. The New Testament "does something about it." What part are you a part of? Talking about it or DOING IT? Do your part to ensure that the church is not held back from fulfilling the Great Commission by giving your life and following the calling God has put on your life. He has gifted you to serve and the hold back is YOU! Let Go and Let God have control and He will ROCK YOUR WORLD!! Come Alive Today!!

Vesselogical Out,
