Temple

Temple (def) - a place devoted to a special purpose. Here is what Peter defined each of us as being a temple in 1 Peter 2: And you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are his holy priests. Through themediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God. There is a special place in each of us that is devoted to God, and that is driven by the presence of the Holy Spirit. Paul also said this about the temple in 1 Corinthians 6: Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself. The above scripture is very sobering when we think about what to do in our lives and who is in charge. God is in charge, and He is perfectly willing to lead us into life everlasting and an abundant here on earth. We must trust and follow Him.

The physical temple in Jerusalem began as a place of prayer, and over time became a marketplace for religious objects that were for sale. There are some believers who have made their personal temple a place of compromise and have quit following the Word of God for personal gain, and that gain is "I want to do what I want to do!" Perhaps Jesus needs to come into our personal temple and upset our apple carts and bring us back to being the temple of the Holy Spirit, and not a temple of compromise. In church life, this would be called 'revival,' and because of the drastic change back into what God intended our temple to be, the world around us would be changed and rearranged. Oh lord, we need revival!!

Paul does not mince any words when talking about this temple, our temple should be devoted to a special purpose, and that purpose is living 100% for Jesus every day of our lives. Paul writes the following, and it is very convicting. 1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple. This all makes sense because the Holy Spirit lives in us, and the result should be us pursuing a holy, uncompromised life that is devoted to God. That is so clear, isn't it??

So now you know, per God's Word, and now is the time to decide "What will I do with Jesus?" My new book, Vision for Life, is being edited as I write this, and the artwork is coming along, so get one and give it to a new convert, and it will jumpstart their faith walk. If your church wants me to come and teach it to those who are available to mentor new believers, I will come for no fee except the cost of the books, and that is $5.00.
