Satan Exposed

It is amazing how satan can use behind the scenes things to escort evil into our live, our society, our churches, into everything. If he can keep from being seen then, even those who follow Jesus might be lulled to sleep, or apathy, that is our present curse in our world today. We are lulled to sleep by not being alert as we are called to be, and then one day, evil is so present we cannot miss it, and we cry out to God. The wisdom involved in staying alert and watchful is God trying to keep us from being lulled to sleep. Peter wrote this in 1 Peter 5:So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.

The reason the first verse in chapter 5 says to humble ourselves under the mighty power of God, is we need God. The opposite of being humble is pride, and the cause of a lot of our being duped by satan is "pride." I have heard people say "My walk with God is so strong satan can never dupe me!" To which I say, You fool! See the following story in Luke 12:13 Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.” 14 Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?”15 Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.” 16 Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. 17 He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ 18 Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19 And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’ 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’ 21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

Jesus gives a great example of someone trying to make a statement about storing up anything in the world and what will happen. When we least expect it behind the scenes, satan will pull the rug from under our feet, and the strong footing we thought we had is found to be on really shaky ground. Pride will cause us to ignore the obvious, and what we built our lives on has fallen. It is foolish to ignore Paul's words to the church in Ephesus, where he says in Ephesus 6: 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. If we let ourselves be lulled to sleep by our own pride we will wake up and see that we have lost the battle. We can do nothing apart from the power of God!! Our relationship with God should be what we value the most, and we will be in tune with what is going on, and satan will have a tough time fooling us. Paul was so serious about staying away from evil that he wrote this to the Christians. in Thessalonica. 1 Thessalonians 5: Avoid even the appearance of evil. Don't be guilty by association.

If you pursue God you stand a real good chance of identifying evil as it approaches and a constant prayer walk with God will keep you on alert. Here is what happens when satan is seen and he shows himself. Acts 19: 17 The story of what happened spread quickly all through Ephesus, to Jews and Greeks alike. A solemn fear descended on the city, and the name of the Lord Jesus was greatly honored.18 Many who became believers confessed their sinful practices. 19 A number of them who had been practicing sorcery brought their incantation books and burned them at a public bonfire. The value of the books was several million dollars. 20 So the message about the Lord spread widely and had a powerful effect.

When satan's power is exposed for what it is, the name of the Lord will be greatly honored, and those who are living nominal Christian lives will see they really are a long way from where they need to be. Then they will flush those evil things they have allowed in their lives, no matter the cost!! The message is this: when satan and his evil ways are brought out in the open, people will turn to God again. What needs to be flushed from your life to return to honoring God in your walk? Ask God, and He will show you His grace is real and lasting. Praise God for His mercy!! God will expose satan and bring him out in the open and we will see him for who he is.

Vesselogical Out,

David Warren
