Remember

Have you ever needed God so much because the waves seem to be surrounding you so high that you cannot see a way out? At times it seems that way to me, and this Psalm is a great encouragement from the Pslamist to remember God in all of it. Psalm 42: ⁵ Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him,  my Savior and my God. This causes me to yearn for God to intervene and to strengthen me, because I have no other options. So my prayer and my heart remember how powerful my God is and how much He loves me, David, His servant. In this same Psalm 42: 1 the Psalmist cries out his desire for God to move and show His power. Psalm 42: ¹ As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. ² My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?

Remember, God is watching, and He is ever near, and for me, He is needed!! So I pray to Him in that time of need, and the prayer of the Psalmist in Psalm 121 says it all. Psalm 121:1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?² My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. ³ He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber;⁴ indeed, he who watches over Israel    will neither slumber nor sleep. ⁵ The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand;⁶ the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life;⁸ the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Remember, remember, remember. Remember what? The God who made it all is watching, and Jesus is with you and me, and His watchful eye never closes, even when I sleep.
