Hebrews 10:19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. 24 Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. 25 And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Perseverance - (def) persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Wow.....Wow......Wow. I know many of you have walked through difficult times just waiting for something better to happen in your lives. It seems like so many Christians are going through tough times with no break and it is wearing on them and wearing them out. The above scripture is a great help in seeing how close our Heavenly Father is to hearing our needs and yes, responding to them. I hear a lot of people trying to give excuses for God not moving in the situations of our lives, and this concerns me. God's hearing has not been compromised because of the condition of our world and He still hears His children, whom He loves desperately, crying out to Him. In the above verses the writer of Hebrews speaks to the access our loving God has given us to come to Him with our needs. Verse 19 says 19 And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. Heaven's most holy place cannot be entered except by those who are pure and undefiled, or those who have been washed clean by the blood of the Lamb. To minimize that access would minimize the effectiveness of the sacrifice of Jesus and we should never do that at all.
This life-giving access to the Father is something that should be evident in our prayer life, our daily walk, and the way we approach our faith. We either believe it or we don't and it is very necessary to establish where we are on this subject. Verse 23 says 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Keep a good grip on the hope you have and trust God through it all. God can be trusted! His power and His promises have not changed due to our lack of believing because they are eternal as God is eternal. So we need to hold on with a tight grip to the promises of God and let hope be our foundation in our daily walk. This hope perseveres in good and bad times, always hoping for God to come through as only He can do. The lyrics to the 70's song Through It All definitely work here. Through it all, through it all. I've learned to trust in Jesus, I've learned to trust in God. Through it all, through it all, I've learned to depend on His Word.
Our faith and our walk with God is established out of this great hope that only God can give us. Oh sure, we cannot understand it because it is so far above our human thinking, but God gives it to us anyway. So don't despair, and keep on believing for God to do great and powerful things and guess what? He will. Not because we deserve it or understand it, but because that is just who God is and how He rolls. If truth is to be revealed about this whole subject, it will show that God's "faithful" children have quit being faithfuil in their belief that their heavenly Father will supply their needs according to His riches in glory. Philippians 4:19 And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Keep in mind, we either believe it or we don't. The choice is yours, but as for me "I believe!"
How good is your grip? Well, hold on!!
The Pilgrimage continues....
