It is Finished X 2

ree

When God completes something that completion is perfect and DONE or finished. When Jesus died on the cross there was a point where He said It Is Finished, and that statement proclaimed the completion of the eternal sacrifice that paid the debt for the sins of man forever and it was over. OVER. John 19:30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” or tetelestai, Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. All that was needed to pay the penalty for the sin debt of mankind was given and Jesus willingly gave us up His spirit.

In Revelation 21:5-7 John saw a new heaven and a new earth and all that God began He completed and said It Is Finished. Revelation 21:And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. ALL things new and our eternal home in glory is completed and done, or finished. The It is Finished in Revelation 21 is different than what Jesus said on the cross in that His words on the cross speak to the redemptive work needed to pay the debt for our sin. The It is Finished John spoke in Revelation 21 also speak to God's perfect completion of our heavenly home much in the same way as in Genesis 3: So the creation of the heavens and the earth and everything in them was completed. On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.

When we were born again God began a process of growth in our life that was grounded in the righteousness of God. We became a new creation in our life and in that foundation we find that we are growing more and more in our faith walk every day and the only thing that can thwart that process and make it less than God intended is for us to ignore the teachings of God's Word! Paul saw this in the new converts he was seeing everywhere he went, so his letter to the church in Phillipi was very important to drive home the point of God growing us in this new creation position. Philippians 1:And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. The words "I am certain that God" are very important because like the righteousness we get from God, our growth also comes from God. When deep (God) calls to deep (us) we are getting to see the mysteries of God became pure truth to all who ask, seek, and knock. The pure truth of God is very present and available and my we seek that truth with all our heart and through the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Two different, but the same, It is Finished statements that help us realize that God is going to complete with perfect completion what He has started, without fail. We need to let him finish our faith walk by studyiong His Word and deepening our prayer walk, and see the process of our spiritual growth warping forward and impacting us and everyone we meet.

I love the way the Psalmist spoke to this in

The Pilgrimage Continues,
