Is It Possible? Come and See!

When we tell people about Jesus, many will say, "Is all this Jesus stuff really true?" To which we take them to the Word of God, and we can say, "Come and see" what you think. In doing so, we are trusting that the Word of God will attach itself to a person's mind and heart and cause a crisis of belief. But if we never share that Word, then they won't be able to see. The life we live has an impact on how people receive the gospel, and it is very important for them to see Jesus in each of us. Paul wrote this to the church in Philippi. Philippians 1:27 Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel.

Paul knew how to position himself to win more to Jesus by being relatable and accessible. In 1 Corinthians 9: 19 For though I am free from all people, I have made myself a slave to all, so that I may gain more. 20 To the Jews I became as a Jew, so that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the Law, I became as one under the Law, though not being under the Law myself, so that I might gain those who are under the Law; 21 to those who are without the Law, I became as one without the Law, though not being without the law of God but under the law of Christ, so that I might gain those who are without the Law. 22 To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak; I have become all things to all people, so that I may by all means save some. 23 I do all things for the sake of the gospel, so that I may become a fellow partaker of it. I call this "living in the flow." Wherever the conversation takes us, we can relate to the one we are reaching out to without judging them. We can let them know we understand them and we want to get to the "soul" of the matter! Don't quibble over details and keep the main thing the main thing. This is soul business, and we need to keep focused on showing them the possibility of life eternal, the forgiveness of their sins, and new life in Jesus.

Philip had met Jesus, and when Jesus said, "Follow me," Philip followed Him and went to Nathaniel and told him, "I have met the one whom Moses wrote of in the law." John 1:43 The next day, He decided to go to Galilee, and He found Philip. And Jesus said to him, “Follow Me.” 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law, and the prophets also wrote: Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth!” 46 Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good be from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite, in whom there is no deceit!” 48 Nathanael *said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” 49 Nathanael answered Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God; You are the King of Israel!”

When you get someone to consider Jesus and express His message from the Word of God, Jesus will never disappoint, and the Holy Spirit will work, and salvation will be available, and they will know it!! We need to say what Philip said to Nathaniel, and those words "Come and see" still work today. Even a lost and biblically unlearned person will be amazed when they meet the pure truth of the Word of God.

The Pilgrimage Continues,
