All journeys begin with a first step which involves building a strong foundation on the strength of the God of the Universe, Jesus. In His Name, we realize true strength for the journey and our roadmap that shows us where to go is His Word, the Bible. This journey is exciting because it takes us places that only God can lead us to and through. When on this journey God will teach us by helping us live “in the flow.”
An ancient Chinese proverb says “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one single step” and that proverb shows we must take that first step to begin that journey. Those words have much wisdom, but the greatest proverb of taking our journey is much more powerful than the Chinese proverb. The Proverb I want to lead us to is in God’s Word in Proverbs 3:5-6 (NLT) - 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Jesus is our Vision Maker, and when He gives us a vision for living our lives there is great purpose in that vision and that purpose can change one life or a generation and He chooses who He wants to impact. Jesus had 12 close followers who traveled with Him and saw everything He did and heard everything He said and their lives were impacted hugely. We must never forget that He chose them individually because of what He wanted to do through their individual lives. Never underestimate the purpose God has for your life and what it truly means to be God’s child. God is intimately involved in every part of our life and we can trust Him to show us the best path because He sees and knows us. Psalm 137: 1 O Lord, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. 2 You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. 3 You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. 4 You know what I am going to say even before I say it, Lord. 5 You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.
The Psalmist sets the tone for just how much God wants to show us everything we need to walk this journey individually and as the church. Right now just pray and ask God to show you His ways and pray for a receptive heart and mind to His truth. You will have to lay aside some past impressions about what it means to be a Christian or Christ Follower because God is doing a “ new thing” as He told the prophet Isaiah. Isaiah 43: 19 For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. You may feel like you are in a dry wasteland because of the decline of our world, but be encouraged because God is creating rivers through that wasteland and restoring the power and might of His church and He is doing that through the presence of committed followers of His Word believing again in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Are you ready for something new and exciting that is sent from God. It's coming very soon, so get ready and build that strong foundation and it will last.
Vesselogical Out,
David Warren
