Follow the Truth Trail

ree

Life is all about decisions, and for the born-again believer, it is about following God's will in all things. But it is tough, and second-hand information can lead us down a primrose path and not down the narrow path God has set before us. This is why pursuing the truth of the Word of God is so vital!! The early church in America was sent down a path that may or may not have been reliable, as the personal opinions and "leanings" of one or two Christian leaders set into motion something that we just swallowed and then live by. We need only "absolute" truth and that is only possible from the Word of God. Jesus said this in John 8:31 So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; 32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

We find our freedom in the truth and the truth in the Word of God and that freedom to know that we are accessing pure truth establishes a faith walk beyond compare. No other human reference can match how the Word of God comments on itself. Seek only God's truth and true freedom will be the result, and you will be free. When it comes to eternal life in heaven, Jesus is our reference, where He says in John 14:Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through Me. What does He mean? Jesus is the ONLY. way, and we must follow His perfect way. Jesus also helps us see another truth about following Him in this faith walk where in John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take from Mine and will disclose it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine; this is why I said that He takes from Mine and will disclose it to you.

Confused? Seek the Word. Hurt? Seek the Word. Depressed? Seek the Word. Everything has been provided for us to grow in our faith walk and it is all immersed in the truth from the Word of God. The way to live is found in the Word of God, but don't just pick out the parts you like. We must follow all the great truths from God's Word and we will be complete and lacking in nothing. Paul wrote this truth to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and beneficial for teaching, for rebuke, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man or womanof God may be fully capable, equipped for every good work. If we immerse ourselves in the Word of God the result will be life of good works that are meant to build our faith and glorify our God. This sure makes James 2 look much clearer where he says in James 2: 14 What use is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him? When your faith is foundational on the Word of God, the result will be "works" that are Godly works and the attitude in those works will be humble and like Jesus.

If I asked any who are reading this "Do you believe there is a spiritual world?" most would say yes. They may even quote Paul's letter to the church at Ephesus where he says we are in a spiritual battle. But if I asked you "Do you believe the Holy Spirit still moves in power today?" I might lose a few of you, but you would still probably agree. But if I asked you to ask the Holy Spirit to move in power right now, some of you would not believe it would happen. We have lost that which Jesus so freely gives us to help us grow in our faith walk because of past abuses and all out weirdness by some who profess to know the truth. So we run from anything that identifies with them and throw the baby out with the wash, or the Holy Spirit out with our lack of faith. A big part of the "truth" is God is still working in power and He is close to each of us and wants to grow us deeper in our individual walk with Him. We must follow the Truth Trail and not get off the path to truth by listening to others who don't even know or believe the truth. This path is a narrow path, but it is very doeable and accesible for all who will ask God to show them the way. SO ASK! GO AHEAD, ASK! I quit listening to everybody else and asked God Himself, and He has shown me so much more than just assuming things. It is all in His Word.

The Pilgrimage Continues,

David Warren
