John 16:31 Jesus asked, “Do you finally believe?32 But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me.33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” Jesus spoke in figures of speech a lot and in John 16 Jesus reveals that He is leaving and sending the Holy Spirit to be with His followers. He also shares the effect of the Holy Spirit coming in verse 8 of John 16 Jesus says this: 8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.9 The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.
The "world" refusing to believe in Jesus is the world's sin. That sin is still very evident today and that lack of belief has been accelerated and it has bled over to those who are followers of The Way. Some may ask "What is your belief system?" Our answer should be "I believe in Jesus." Jesus shares this with the disciples in verse 12 “There is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. And in the following verse, Jesus says what else the Holy Spirit will do. Verse 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
Where are you in your belief about Jesus, God, the Holy Spirit, or even the Bible? There was a point in John 16 where Jesus doesn't speak figuratively anymore and He begins to speak very plainly to them, so they might know and believe. The time for Jesus to speak plainly is also among us and the interpretation of that truth is compounded by the presence of the Holy Spirit. No more speculation for us, but pure truth that is understandable and profitable for living this life. Paul shared this truth with Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.17 God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. We have everything we need to live the life God has called us to and that should spur each of us to follow His Word and learn the true meaning of living a life of purpose that is surrendered to God.
So if you finally believe that He is the way, the truth, and the life as written in John 14:6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is. From now on, you do know him and have seen him!” Let the "light come on" and He will show you great and mighty things you did not know. It is time to "Finally Believe" and God will show you the mysteries of life as never before. You can trust Him.
