Do You Have Drive?

ree

There is a spirit of apathy and indifference in our world, and it has leaked into the Christian faith as well. Satisfied is the new "buzz word" for being happy and contented, and the only problem with that is it takes away the vision of the on-fire believer. Jesus was not satisfied to just come into the world and walk around teaching and healing; in fact, Jesus did some of His best work "immediately" and without procrastination. What a witness!!

Immediately (def) - at once; instantly. Jesus reacted with purpose and drive as He healed the sick, raised the dead, and went to the cross. Had he been satisfied just going to a pretty mountain and sitting there, we would be in trouble. His drive caused Him to finish the work that needed to be done, defeating death, hell, and the grave. There is no comparison we can come up with to explain His urgency and His focus. Here are some instances where Jesus ministered immediately. John 5:And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. John 6:Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went. Luke 13:And he laid [his] hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. Luke 1:And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue [loosed], and he spake, and praised God.

There was an urgency in Jesus to walk the walk, and then finish His course, and He completed it praise God. We tend to focus on Jesus not coming immediately to heal Lazarus when he became deathly sick, and Lazarus died. Jesus gave a reminder to Martha when she questioned the timing of Jesus when she said in John 11:21, “Lord,” Martha said to Jesus, “if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.” The reply of Jesus explained His timing perfectly, and He said in John 11: 40 Then Jesus said, 'Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” Even in Jesus' coming after Lazarus died, God was glorified, and the witness to the people there, and to us, has a lasting effect. Jesus truly is the resurrection and the life! Far be it from me to question God's timing.

When we receive the Holy Spirit, we become "people of drive" and not neutral. To get to the drive, you have to become discontent with the neutral, and you look for God to do more and more in your life, as He promised in the words of Jesus in John 10: 10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Do not let the "thief" steal your drive and ask God to give you a moving vision to improve or move forward in your life, and don't let the world's apathy keep that from happening. Anybody can be content with their present circumstances, but people with drive are always looking ahead to the next thing, and remember, God is the one who gives the drive to dream!!
