Don’t Miss Your Flight

My family traveled by plane to North Carolina a few years ago and on the way back our flight connection was extremely close, and the connection was in the Atlanta airport.  So we get off our plane and start sprinting to the next gate because that flight had been delayed so we were even later getting into Atlanta.  As we approach the gate to our connecting flight I can already see that no one is there except the ticket person.  I run up to her and tell her our situation and she listens and then tells me that we are too late and it cannot be helped.  We missed our flight!!  Keep in mind this is at 9:00 p.m. at night and no other flights available to our destination.  It was going to take us one hour to fly to our home location, but no more flights, so we rented a car and drove home (four hours!).  We got home at about 2:30 am, just because we missed our connection

Do you have your flight reserved and are you ready to take flight?  I mean, are you saved and right with God?  Now would be an excellent time to make sure that commitment is taken care of and firm.  As the day of our Lord approaches more and more people  will mock those who have given their lives to Christ and try to spread doubt about Jesus coming back….but He is!!  2 Peter 3: This is now, beloved, the second letter I am writing to you in which I am stirring up your sincere mind by way of reminder, 2 that you should remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.3 Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” 5 For when they maintain this, it escapes their notice that by the word of God the heavens existed long ago and the earth was formed out of water and by water, 6 through which the world at that time was destroyed, being flooded with water. 7 But by His word the present heavens and earth are being reserved for fire, kept for the day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.  The Lord IS coming back!!!  God’s timing is perfect and not set around our timing, but His Word is very clear about the fact of His coming.  Peter goes on to explain in verses 8-9  8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.

If you have been putting off making a commitment to Jesus Christ, but you know. you need to, then now is the time.  Do not delay!!  The Lord is coming back and just like us missing our flight connection out of Atlanta, there will not be any way you can make this eternal flight to glory without repenting of your sins, accepting Jesus by faith, and giving your life to Him.  It is obvious throughout scripture that life change is necessary to have your ticket and that life change is made possible through the remission of your sins made possible by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Sure, time will move on and it may seem like the Lord is slow in coming, but know this…He is coming!!!  As believers we need to be sharing this message with everyone we meet and giving them the opportunity to catch this flight!!  Now is the time and today is the day of salvation.  Time to make your connection flight before it is eternally too late!!

The Pilgrimage continues……
