Direction

Our country seems to be rudderless at times, but God is in control, and He is always the final word in elections and the direction of our lives and our country. In the Book of Daniel, Daniel gave this prophetic word for his time and our time. In Chapter Two of Daniel, we see that Nebuchadnezzar, the king at that time, had a dream. He called in all of his magicians, high men of standing, and anyone else he could find, and told them to tell him what his dream was. None of them could supply the request, and in failing the king, Nebuchadnezzar threatened their lives for not being able to come through to answer his request. Daniel was a part of this group of royal servants because he was a reliable source of wisdom when the king asked for it. Daniel knew that he needed God's help to know the secret of the King's dream, and he asked his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, whom we know as Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, but they lost their Hebrew names when they were taken as young people, and the Babylonians were hoping to erase their Hebrew identity, but it couldn't be done. How many times do we see born-again Christians lose their true born-again identity by the world trying to make us forget who we are In Jesus!
But back to Daniel. Daniel prayed, along with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, to have the secret of the king’s dream. Daniel goes on to say how powerful our God is and how important it is that we trust His direction. Here we see a powerful comfort for God's children as we trust the lord. Daniel 2:21 He controls the course of world events; He removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars. God is in control, and His direction, or will, is perfect, and we need to do what we can do by voting according to the direction God shows us in His Word, and that will be our part. If we are in the Word, we will quickly see WHO to vote for; God will take care of the rest.
Asking for God's direction and trusting Him is the MAIN point of this whole direction, and doing our part must be tied to the truth of God's Word. The differences between the many candidates are so obvious this year, and I am hoping those who call Jesus lord, will pray for God's mercy and seek the obvious answer to what direction God is leading, and realize it is not a secret that cannot be solved. The need to follow God's direction is seen in the words of the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 55: 8 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God IS our direction, so follow Him, even though it will probably not follow the reasoning of this world. HIS WAYS ARE BETTER!!!
