Betrayal Personified

Betrayal (def) - violation of a person's trust or confidence, in a moral standard. A betrayal is a deliberate act of dishonesty. When Jesus was betrayed by Judas it did not catch Him off guard because He KNEW all things and still proceeded forward. Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss, which is a double insult in that a kiss was a kind greeting to a friend. Have you ever had someone betray you? Like a friend, or even the lowest, a family member? Judas was a member of the Disciples. He was known as the treasurer of the group because he was assumed to be the most trusted. But Judas was just Judas, a man who let his impressions about what was the right thing to do overwhelm his reasoning.

Betrayal is the lowest form of bad and I hate betrayal. The first time I read about the betrayal of Judas it affected me in a bad way. Can you trust no one? I have been around betrayal in the church and it stinks to the lowest degree and that was Christians?

Our Lord is very much alert to the betrayal that happens all around us and this is what God says about us taking revenge. Romans 12:19 Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the Lord. Our correct response to betrayal is to leave it in God's hands and He will come through with vengeance. It is a vengeance I could never accomplish like He can.

A conclusion might be "I will never be a Judas in someone's life." If a Christian can be a Judas I think they need to evaluate their walk with God and make sure they have a relationship with Him. Just remember, God follows through in what He says. People who betray must realize God will have His vengeance because He protects and fights for His children. God's arm is eternally long, and He takes betrayal personally.

Vesselogical Out,

David Warren
