At the Crossroads
There is a time in the kingdom that a reckoning must take place. Our Loving Lord warns His children of such a time if they don’t repent and repent bitterly. We struggle in our personal walk with the Lord and don’t develop our walk with God and then marvel when His church, His rock, loses faith. How long will His Spirit tarry with His disobedient bride? Or has the Spirit been taken from the bride? We tiptoe around these issues and that neglect is usually a sign that apathy and indifference is ruling our reasoning. The children of Israel had become disobedient and God sent Jeremiah to ring out the message that judgment was coming!! God sends a message through the weeping prophet in Chapter 6 of Jeremiah telling him what he needs to do. The following scripture says a lot. Jeremiah 6:16 “Go stand at the crossroads and look around. Ask for directions to the old road, The tried-and-true road. Then take it. Discover the right route for your souls.
I believe we are at a crossroad and this crossroad has one true direction we should take and reject the other roads. God told Jeremiah which road to take and God called it the tried and true way. God then says something that should shake all who call Jesus their Savior and Lord. God says “discover the right route for your souls.” We think in terms of “following God’s will” with our lives, but what about our souls? It is here where we presume a lot about God’s desire for us to be right with Him in following His command. We think this is a command we can accept or reject without penalty or consequences. But is that really true? We must decide. Will we follow God and take His tried and true way or will we reject it? Here is the reply of the people to Jeremiah’s warning from God. Jeremiah 6:But they said, ‘Nothing doing. We aren’t going that way.’ I even provided watchmen for them to warn them, to set off the alarm. But the people said, ‘It’s a false alarm. It doesn’t concern us.’ The watchmen mentioned in this scripture is a word that was used to distinguish prophets of the day. Because of Jesus and His sacrifice to make us right with God, and the Word of God, which is alive and active, we also should be watchmen!!! Just read a scripture that tells us to repent or we will have judgment fall on us and see if that is prophetic or not. IT IS!!
We see vivid examples of people who are not wanting to follow the rules that are set before them and that rebellious heart is prevalent in our world today. It should be no surprise this attitude has gotten worse, because it began at the house of God, the church. When believers lose their fire, their convictions, their faith, it affects everything. Even the secular world we live in. As American Christians we have a unique opportunity given to us to shine with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but we are not shining. We are dulled…..numb! In reading further in Jeremiah 6 we read And so I’m calling in the nations as witnesses: ‘Watch, witnesses, what happens to them!’ And, ‘Pay attention, Earth Don’t miss these bulletins.’ I’m visiting catastrophe on this people, the end result. of the games they’ve been playing with me. They’ve ignored everything I’ve said, had nothing but contempt for my teaching.
We ARE at a crossroad and it is time to make a decision. Will I burn brightly for Jesus or will I continue to go down the wrong roads that lead to destruction? It is time to choose and you are the chooser. Peter spoke to this very thing in 1 Peter 4::17-19 It’s judgment time for God’s own family. We’re first in line. If it starts with us, think what it’s going to be like for those who refuse God’s Message! If good people barely make it, What’s in store for the bad? So if you find life difficult because you’re doing what God said, take it in stride. Trust him. He knows what He’s doing, and He’ll keep on doing it. Do you really want to “just make it?” Or do you want to be found fighting the good fight like Paul told Timothy to do? I want to fight that fight and I am going to choose the road that is tried and true. The Gospel Road!! How about you? Begin your personal revival by repenting with a heart that mourns for your present condition and get right TODAY!! Ephesians 5:16. 11-16 Don’t waste your time on useless work, mere busywork, the barren pursuits of darkness. Expose these things for the sham they are. It’s a scandal when people waste their lives on things they must do in the darkness where no one will see. Rip the cover off those frauds and see how attractive they look in the light of Christ. Wake up from your sleep, Climb out of your coffins; Christ will show you the light! So watch your step. Use your head. Make the most of every chance you get. These are desperate times!
It’s time for the Bride of Christ to choose a better way, a way of truth, and follow it, and evangelize and make disciples. Are you with us or against us?
