Always Been, and Always Will Be

The eternity of Jesus proves He is eternal in every aspect of His being. He is God, and His power is real and present. Scripture says this in Colossians 1:15 Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, 16 for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth.

He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see, such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him.

17 He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together. 18 Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. He is the beginning, supreme over all who rise from the dead. So he is first in everything. This means Jesus is the all in all, and we must honor and glorify Him as we do the Father, because Jesus and the Father are one. ONE!!

I was playing in a basketball pick-up game a few years ago, and one player kept missing a shot he was known for, so He decided using the name of Jesus was a good move. I finally got to the point where I had to say something, so I did. He pulled. up and shot a 30-footer and air-balled it, and on the way back down the court, he said Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!! To which I moved up next to him and said, "Don't say the name of Jesus when things don't work out like you wanted unless you are calling out for His help." He looked at me really funny and proceeded to say, "I didn't mean any disrespect," and I shared with Him what the person with that name did for me, and he never said it again the rest of the night.

It was just a gentle reminder to honor that which is deserving of honor, and that is Jesus. How different it would be for him if he called out to Jesus and said, "Please save me, Jesus." And guess what? Jesus would save him. I hear the name of Jesus dragged through the mud with total disrespect, and I can't even imagine how difficult it was for Him to walk on this earth as a man. The one man who wrote the above letter to the church at Colossae, Paul, at one time was killing anyone who said they followed Jesus, and now look what happened when his life was changed. In the above verses, Paul makes a very strong statement about who Jesus is and His eternity. Don't lose the miracle of this changed man who turned around and followed Jesus, proclaiming He is God.

To finish the thought of what Paul was saying, I will put the ending verses of Paul's point, and he explains what Jesus did in Colossians 1:19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ,20 and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross.

Follow Jesus. Share Jesus. Speak up for Jesus. Point to Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will move again and again.

The Pilgrimage continues,

David Warren
