A Lifestyle of Need

It is so important to realize we need God!! Usually, it takes some kind of massive bad thing to get us to turn to God. We should be in constant conversation with God anyway, and when something unexpected comes our way, we take it in stride with God as our guide. Do you thirst for time with God? God wants to spend time with us, and that time is spent through prayer. If we neglect our time with God, we become dry and indifferent in our life choices, and usually, we drift in the wrong direction. In our hearts, the Holy Spirit is calling us to pray because it is vital for our growth in our faith walk. Paul wrote this to the church in Thessalonica in Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing. We need to pray and spend time with Abba Father because He is calling us constantly and leading us to new heights in our relationship with the God who saved us. Prayer is more than a repetitive, religious experience. Prayer is the most personal expression of our hearts and minds that we can make, and God hears and listens, and responds. So pray!!
A hindrance to keep praying is that prayer has become a habit. You may say, "I made prayer a habit, so I will remember to keep praying." When Paul wrote those words in 1 Thessalonians, he had come to realize that with all of the situations he was facing, he needed to pray at all times. What was different about Paul? He was walking with God all the time and asking God what to do next, and it was important to keep in contact with God's direction, so keep on asking for more wisdom. We don't even know what to pray, and Paul shared the following words with the church in Rome in Romans 8:26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. 27 And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. 28 And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
We need to realize that we are in A Lifestyle of Need!! The hymn, I Need Thee Every Hour should really read I Need Thee Every Moment, but that might be too hard to make that lyric work for the song. Regardless, we need God, and we must live a lifestyle of need that is driven by a spirit-filled prayer life that makes a difference in us and those who know us. To realize the need will make our prayer life go to a new and better level. To live that kind of prayer life doesn't mean we are more spiritual, it just means we are living a life totally dependent on Jesus, and that is a good life.
