A Different Way of Thinking

Colossians 1:28 So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.
Do you tell other people about Christ and what He has done and is doing in your life? If not, why not? Scripture, in fact, this scripture tells us clearly to do just that and still, we don’t. This new way of thinking we get when we accept Jesus and give Him our life should include serving Him with first-hand knowledge of who Jesus is and what Jesus is doing in our lives. It seems the “in” thing to do in many teachings today is to be a “secret agent Christian.” Sadly enough many have accepted that weak and very prideful way of living their Christian life. Prideful by the fact that we are almost ashamed of Christ, the Bible, the Church, and any other aspects of the faith. Paul wrote in his letter to the Romans in Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. The power of God at work? Oh, how we need that power and we the boldness to tell others about the awesome hope that only Christ can bring to a life. But, we don’t share it and then we are powerless. You may say, “So you say if I don’t share the Good News then I am powerless as a believer? No! The Bible says that very truth. If you don’t like it. Take it up with God!
This sharing stuff is very difficult I know. But we still need to do it and it will take a much different way of thinking. First, we have to quit assuming that every person is a Christian, even if they attend church regularly. Secondly, we need to know what we are talking about and that is accomplished by spending some quality time with God in His Word, the Bible. Third, we need to see the world like Jesus sees the world. LOST!! Paul wrote in Colossians 3: Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. 3 For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory. Your new life is hidden with Christ in God. Jesus is our Savior, our Redeemer, and He is the propitiation for our sin. Propitiation (def) – atonement, especially that of Jesus Christ. To be hidden with Christ in God shows the covering of Jesus on each of us and it also shows His power is our power and that power is best seen when we acknowledge Christ before man. Matthew 10:32 “Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.
So, change your thinking and begin to see the world as a mission field and also begin to think differently about family, work associates, church members, and all others and begin to see them as Christ does. It will make your day a day full of power as you “live” out the Gospel you received when you accepted Jesus. In golf, I had a friend who used to say “be the ball!” In life, I believe we need to “be the Christian.”
The Pilgrimage continues….
