Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. This scripture verse that so many Christians have held to for strength and hope is a constant reminder of God's faithfulness in every situation. EVERY situation. In the middle of it, all this truth can be lost in the translation and cause us to doubt sometimes. The Apostle Paul was constantly given a reason to doubt, but he also constantly had a reason to keep believing because he was surely one "called according to his purpose!"
There are some qualifying characteristics in this verse that seem to leap out at all who read it. First, the scripture says ALL things, and it means ALL. We sometimes have trouble with the world ALL. I know in my doubts I sometimes hedge on this word and forget that God is complete and final in all His ways. In a very weak and milk toast world the word all is not even applicable at times because we do hedge on the purity and finality of the Word of God. All means all. Secondly, in the verse above Paul say "God Works" and that is very encouraging to me to know that God is active and working. I know that but to read it in the pure truth of God's Word causes my faith to deepen even more. Since God Works, I must say to the Lord, "work it." Thirdly, God works for the "good" of those who are called and called according to His purpose. His purpose is the key to all of this and that is where our human impressions fall short of who God is. We must get into His Word to realize what His purpose is all about.
Scripture says we are all called to "work it." By saying "work it" I know for me the gospel is God's main purpose and sharing it is what I hang my hat on. John 3:16 says For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. That whoever believes in Him will not perish, but have everlasting life. WHOEVER covers all and to that end, we must be sharing the Goods News and ask God to "work it" in a person's life. John 14:6-7 says scripture says 6 Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.7 If you had really known me, you would know who my Father is From now on, you do know him and have seen him!”
We know God's main purpose, and we know God's plan for fulfilling that purpose. Also, we know His purpose is the best for us, and now we are called to fulfill that purpose. So we should surrender to that purpose and say "work it." God will always come through and He is the only one who is perfect in everything He does.
The Pilgrimage Continues.
