Without the Blood

ree

Blood is life. Without our blood, we will die. When we get low on blood, we are weak and almost lifeless. Blood is necessary for us to live physically, and the blood of Jesus is necessary for us to live spiritually. Leviticus 17:11 For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life. We are nothing without the shed blood of Jesus, for it covers our sins and purifies the lives of those who are born again. Without the shed blood of Jesus, we have no hope, but we have all hope through the blood of Jesus. Romans 5:Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him.

We are SAVED through the blood of Jesus. In a modern-day church model, it has taken the blood and the mention of it and turned it into some kind of funny phrase. There was no laughing in heaven when God's son gave His life for the sins of the world. Praise God!! We need to teach the truth about the blood of Jesus and let that truth draw all of us to a closer remembrance of His death when taking the Lord's Supper. Don't let those who believe they are "too cool for Jesus" persuade you to forget the power of the blood of Jesus. I love the lyrics in a Hope Darst song entitled Mighty Name of Jesus, where she sings I will not fear, I will not fear, When the enemy comes near, On the door frame of my life Is the blood of Jesus Christ. There is power in the name of Jesus, and the blood of Jesus shows the power that saves all who come to Him for forgiveness of their sins.

Why would we ever minimize the power of the blood by making cutesy comments about it without respect? We have become jaded to the "things of God," and this jading must stop, as we go deeper into what this whole thing is all about. Jesus saves, and He defeated death, hell, and the grave so that we might also defeat them and live eternally in paradise. Jesus truly did "pay it all" on the cross, and we live in the power provided by that sacrifice, as He shed His "perfect" blood for "imperfect me and you." Here are all recorded blood types as we know them. A negative. ... A positive. ... B negative. ...B positive. ...AB negative. ...Let me introduce another blood type that is perfect in every test and never lacking, and it is the blood type of Jesus Christ, our Savior. What type of blood was shed for you and me? It is the blood type immersed in the love of God. It is the blood type that forgives all our sins and gives us a home eternally in heaven. It is a blood type that gives us the righteousness of God as a source of wisdom, strength, and, of course, God's grace.

Stop keeping Jesus at arm's length and let Him change you at your core, and you will come to these deeper truths if you seek God in His Word. Peter brings all of this into focus in 1 Peter 1:17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; 18 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers. 19 but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ

Thank you, Jesus, for the blood. Oh, yes, thank you, and I praise you again and again for the blood.

The Pilgrimage Continues,

David Warren
