Psalms 86:11 "Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name." When God is teaching us many times we don't listen really well. I know for me I tend to have selective hearing and miss the "good parts!" The result of pursuing God in your life is a life of purpose and direction. Not a life of just bumping around from problem to problem with no hope in sight. When God teaches us His ways we are learning a perfect truth from almighty God and there will be something great come out of it. One of the great things that will happen is best seen in the book of Proverbs 4: 25-26 where the writer says Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.
Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure." We will have a heavenly focus about life and the temporal things of this world will pale in comparison to the surpassing peace given to us by Jesus. Paul wrote to the church at Phillipi these words in Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all [a]comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
At the "soul level" we will realize hope and direction that is God-centered and God-given and that will satisfy the longing in our soul. The Psalmist writes in Psalms 107: 9 "For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things." To have the temporal things of this world fade over time will be a wonderful expression of God's love and direction that will deepen our walk with God. In Lamentations 3:22-24 God's Word says "The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The LORD is my portion,' says my soul, 'therefore I will hope in him.'" Your soul is where the Lord resides and this deepening walk takes a life of just getting by and replaces it with a life of abundance. An abundance of hope, an abundance of peace, an abundance of understanding, and everything else you need for life.
God's promises are true!! Never doubt our Lord and His promises. The enemy wants to disconnect our relationship with our Father, but God has put in stopgaps to protect us while we grow in our faith. God gives us endurance if we will just ask He will carry us through the rough times and give us an enduring heart. Hebrews 10:36 says "For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised." Don't get discouraged when things don't go the way you want and know that God has a plan for a better day for you.
I end this week's blog with this great Word from God's Word founding Romans 5:1-5 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,2 through whom we also have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we celebrate in hope of the glory of God.3 And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance;4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope;5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
The Pilgrimage Continues...
