In a world where we have the technology to do most everything by distance without the need to be here in person it can become easy to think of Jesus in the same way. But, don’t ever think of Jesus in that way or your faith will become so distant and weak and lifeless and the end result will be a life without much power. Why? Because our faith is built on a “present” Savior. Not a Virtual Jesus!! In Psalm 46: 1 it says God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. (NLT). In another translation it says “He is an every present help in times of trouble.” I like that and that helps us all realize that Jesus is not a virtual Savior. He is real and right here with us in the Holy Spirit. In John 14:16 Jesus says “16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.” Nuff said….
Jesus is right here with us and He is the Word of God so we should learn from it and study it for our every day, every moment lives. Jesus is the Holy Spirit and He leads us, empowers us, comforts us, hears us when we pray, and is ever-present. There is no virus that can cause Jesus to “social distance” us once we receive Him. Actually we need to catch what Jesus has and spread it everyone we meet and in Acts 1 Jesus shares what we are to do with the life-giving virus when we get it. Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
In today’s times we are dealing with a virus called Covid-19 and it is causing us to distance ourselves from each other, but in the Bible we respond to another great virus of hope and it is called John 3:16 “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. And that causes us to draw even closer to God and thus to each other as we “share” that great truth and close the gap for all. The gap is made up of sin and the only way to defeat it once and forever is through accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and Lord by faith. NO SPIRITUAL DISTANCING, but instead an intimate close relationship made possible by the blood of Jesus.
So forget the Virtual Jesus thing and get in on the close, deep relationship He is offering to you today. Perhaps the Holy Spirit is drawing you to Jesus today and now is the time to receive Him by faith and get your life set for eternity. Jesus is right here waiting to come in to your life and get close to you in person.
The Pilgrimage continues……
