1 John 2:3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.4 The one who says, “I have come to know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;5 but whoever follows His word, in him the love of God has truly been perfected. By this we know that we are in Him:6 the one who says that he remains in Him ought, himself also, walk just as He walked.
Zombie - A zombie (Haitian French: zombi, Haitian Creole: zonbi) is a mythological undead corporeal revenant created through the reanimation of a corpse. Sometimes we as Christians resemble The Walking Dead, or Zombies in the way we live our faith. This kind of Zombie faith is a myth and not the real truth for those who are born-again. When we are born-again we are not rebirthed to wander around with no direction or purpose. Our new birth makes us "new" not reanimated. We are "made new." We do not keep the old person, but a new person is birthed and that person is new and born-again. If we keep any of what the Bible calls the "old man" we are trying to mix the old and the new and doing that has just created a Zombie. So we are alive and walking, but we are really dead on the inside.
Paul wrote to the church at Corinth and explained this process in 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.18 Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their wrongdoings against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. We are a totally new person and that new person is rebirthed in a spiritual way. In other words, from the inside out! When you are born-again you don't keep even a little part of the old self, but fully embrace this new person in the faith. Paul wrote this to the church in Rome in Romans 6:6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin;7 for the one who has died is freed from sin.
God wants us to move away from the Zombie example of a Christian and pursue letting this born-again life take over and embrace the promised abundant life. To embrace this new born again life sets into motion a total change for the restored person. In Romans 8 Paul writes 6 for the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,7 because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so,8 and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. The new person you are in Christ has their mind set on the Spiritual and not the flesh and that mindset is fresh and growing in faith every day. Your life is CHANGED, and do not be talked into believing there is no change, because that is a major LIE.
When you are born-again your heart is new and not just remodeled. Don't live a DIY life, because you are no longer the same. You are not remodeled. You are a new person, from the foundation up and that person is a vibrant witness to the saving power of Jesus Christ. Also, that person will shake up this world as never before and the result will be a life that is full of the vision of God. No more walking dead, but walking fully alive in the Spirit of God!
If you feel like you are just a Walking Dead and you are living your life with some of the old person and some of the new, it is time to submit to the Father completely and give Him rule over everything in your life. You can only do this if you are truly born-again. In all the movies about Zombies, they show the Walking Dead going around and biting those who were alive and making them Zombies too. Your witness for Christ will affect the church and all your relationships, so make sure you are alive in Christ and not a Walking Dead Zombie because you may lead others to that life of death and not even know it. Wake up and get a full dose of the Holy Spirit and let this life of freedom in Christ come alive and change your world.
