I have written a new book entitled Vision Maker. In this book I explain that Jesus is the real Vision Maker for our lives and for our churches. I am compiling a workbook study to lead at churches who want to get a fresh approach to following the Vision from the Vision Maker, Jesus Christ. I have put an excerpt below of some of the teachings and if you need me to come to your church, I will come for travel expense only and teach a group of leaders you choose and lead them through this book on designing a new, fresh vision for your church.
John 14: 8 Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise believe because of the works themselves. 12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. 13 Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it.
Every church needs Jesus to lead them as a husband leads His bride. Jesus is the authority over the church. The Words of Jesus ring clear in the above scripture as He answers Phillip’s request to “show us the Father!” Jesus answers that request by bringing up the amount of time that Phillip has been with Him and Phillip still does not know this one simple fact. Jesus and the Father are one!!
Here are just some of the steps I will teach in the Vision Maker sessions. Those sessions can be taught on a Friday Night and a Saturday Morning for leaders who are interested.
Purpose*Know why you are doing what you are doing. Know your purpose and share that purpose indepth discussion with others who are joining in this approach. Give the why, the what, the how, and the when to all who are involved.
Prayer *Form prayer groups of three and call them to commit to meet and pray for guidance and direction. Make a prayer guide for each person and be very specific in the prayer needs.
Preparation *After two weeks call those who have been praying together to share what God has been showing them and work it all into a ministry plan for the church to come alive. The tip of the spear group (staff) need to spend a lot of time together putting things into specifics to present to the whole group at the next meeting.
Possibilities*As church staff members do the background to plow the ground and make it ready to receive new seed for growth. Look at buildings that are useable and reevaluate your space to meet the needs for now and the future. Remember the John 14 scripture and present it again to encourage those in the group of the possibilities of what we are doing. Dream!!
Planting *Determine what seed you need to plant and begin letting the heart of the vision get out among those who are on the inside of the initial planning. They need to know the heart of the vision and the direction it is going.
