There is a plot now to kill Jesus. Let me see If I have this right. There is a plot to kill the Son of God who is going to give anyone who asks eternal life in paradise.... And we think our world is messed up? (and it is). Here are the verses and what they say to me.
John 11: 53 So from that time on, the Jewish leaders began to plot Jesus’ death. 54 As a result, Jesus stopped his public ministry among the people and left Jerusalem. He went to a place near the wilderness, to the village of Ephraim, and stayed there with his disciples.
We can put this into a modern version by saying "The world represents the Romans, who are watching the Jews every move." The modern day church represents the Jewish leaders who were scared of becoming zealots in the eyes of the church. Born again believers who are led by the Holy Spirit to stand and proclaim the message of the gospel are representing Jesus in that time. What is happening today is nothing new and the modern day church must, once again, proclaim openly the message of salvation to a lost and dying world without reservation. This message is so very powerful that we will once again see the lost being saved daily and many of them to fulfill the call of God on all who call Him Savior and Lord.
The Passover is coming and that is a time when all people will flock to Jerusalem to celebrate this important time in Jewish life. But where is Jesus? Here is how the people reacted to the absence of Jesus. John 11:55 It was now almost time for the Jewish Passover celebration, and many people from all over the country arrived in Jerusalem several days early so they could go through the purification ceremony before Passover began. 56 They kept looking for Jesus, but as they stood around in the Temple, they said to each other, “What do you think? He won’t come for Passover, will he?” 57 Meanwhile, the leading priests and Pharisees had publicly ordered that anyone seeing Jesus must report it immediately so they could arrest him.
Jesus hasn't come back to Jerusalem and people are wondering where He is and if He will come back. This is the beginning of the end and it is going to be a great end for us,but at the expense of the Son of God. The plot to kill Jesus is now on the table and He is nowhere to be found because He is in Ephraim, which is very close to the wilderness that Jesus knows very well. Matthew 4:1Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted there by the devil. The area Jesus went to for a little while was apparently a wild area in the country and went there with His disciples. He was no longer in Jerusalem, but He was going to be coming back soon.
Let's get some facts straight here: 1. Jesus had the power of resurrection and the proof was in Him raising Lazarus from the dead. 2. This power intimidated and worried the religious leaders to the point that they wanted to kill Him and they established a plot to do that very thing. 3. People coming to Jerusalem were wondering where Jesus was and it was Passover, a time when God spared the Jews by showing them they needed to sprinkle blood on their doorposts so their children would not be killed and the generations could continue on. In my next blog you will see what happens next and what Jesus is going to do, knowing there is plot against His life.
The Plot is not the problem because Jesus has the "power" to handle anything and this plot will further the process God set into place what the prophets prophesied. Isaiah 53:5 But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed. 6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on him the sins of us all. Jesus continues to defeat death, hell, and the grave as He gives this eternal life to all who are born again and that is our hope. Do you know people without that hope? Share the message of the Gospel with them and let the power of the Word of God do it's work and it will.
The Plot to kill Jesus is still active today and satan is going around "like" a roaring lion hoping to devour whoever he might. Here is what Peter tells us to do in 1 Peter 5: 8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Sadly enough, satan is still using religious people to work for him and we have seen the Lord's church take some hits. But it will never be overwhelmed because that church is built on Jesus and it is His bridge, and He protects His bride. We need to just make sure that His bride doesn't get led down the wrong path by a good looking "wide" gate, because our gate is narrow. The plot is still active, but Jesus is still alive and He is still coming on the clouds at the sound of the trumpet, so be ready and be at work. If you don't believe in it then read this in 1Thessalonians 4:15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words.
NUFF SAID. AMEN
Today's Message,
David Warren
