The Life Hacker

It seems like every day, I have someone trying to hack my information, or a friend on

Facebook says to ignore an invitation from them because they have been hacked. This is evil stuff, and we must be on guard when using the internet. What about your life? Do you feel sometimes that satan is trying to hack into your life, your faith? Jesus called out our enemy in John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. Yes, the enemy is trying to ruin your life, and he is really good and sending us untrue bombs to distract us from the perfect Word of God. As born-again believers, we have been given a spirit of discernment, and that keeps us from opening that tainted information sent to us by satan. 1 John 4:1 Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God, for there are many false prophets in the world. This is how we know if they have the Spirit of God: If a person claiming to be a prophet acknowledges that Jesus Christ came in a real body, that person has the Spirit of God. But if someone claims to be a prophet and does not acknowledge the truth about Jesus, that person is not from God. Such a person has the spirit of the Antichrist, which you heard is coming into the world and indeed is already here. ...

We have the warning, so we know that the enemy is all about getting our information tainted and destroying our faith walk, and then he has you confused and weak. He is LIKE a ravaging lion as scripture says in 1 Peter 5:8: Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. There are two very important words in what Peter is writing in the above verses, and they are STAY and LIKE. We are warned to stay alert, which implies that we never stop being alert because satan is always trying to hack into our spiritual life and poison our faith. Jesus also reminds us that satan is LIKE a roaring lion, but he is not a lion. Jesus is the Lion of Judah, and His power defeats satan at EVERY turn, so develop your faith relationship with Jesus, and you will learn to rely on His power and not fear the power of satan. Jesus had to deal with satan in the wilderness after fasting for forty days, and his only recourse was to remind satan of the Word of God, and satan had to leave Him.

So it is for us. Trust the Word of God, and read it and study it like your life depends on it....because it does. Our best anti-hacking software is the Word of God and the Holy Spirit, which makes total sense as we read in Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. The Word of God helps us distinguish between the good and the bad teachings and leads us to follow the Holy Spirit and not the latest trendy philosopher. THE WORD OF GOD IS OUR GREATEST DEFENSE AGAINST SATAN, THE LIFE HACKER.

MY iPhone is really good at telling me before I answer a call from an unknown number that the caller is a potential scammer, so I don't answer that call. When you read the Word of God and Satan tries to distract and hack your life, God's Word will give you a warning that allows you to discern if the teaching or the decision you are making is "of God" or not. Paul gave this warning to the church in Thessalonica in 1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not stifle the Holy Spirit. 20 Do not scoff at prophecies, 21 but test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 22 Stay away from every kind of evil. Ask God to fill you all throughout the day with the Holy Spirit, and you will be equipped to handle whatever the enemy tries to do to poison and kill your faith. GOD IS MORE POWERFUL, SO USE HIS POWER TO FIGHT THE ENEMY BECAUSE WE CANNOT DO IT ON OUR OWN!!
