I love BREAD!! There is no denying that I love BREAD!! If I had the choice between a Hershey’s bar and a fresh baked loaf of bread…..bread would win every time. Andra and I have been eating this Artesan type of bread lately and it is like candy to me. In John 6:35 Jesus is sharing a great lesson about life and just how good it can be if we will continue to deepen our relationship with Him. Jesus isn’t talking about some kind of Artesan bread, but He is talking about the satifaction of knowing Him and the way it fills the longing in our heart, not our stomach. In verse 35 Jesus says “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. So, Jesus has taken care of every need for our soul to be satisfied and filled FOREVER!! In John 4 Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that if she drinks the water of salvation she will never thirst again. So we have the bread of life and the water of life so that we will be fully satisfied. Which makes sense where in John 10:10 Jesus says, My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. In other words, all bases are covered.
Don’t miss the depth of this satisfaction that heals the soul, gives purpose and direction, and draws us even closer to Almighty God. It is a depth of understanding itself that pales anything the world has to offer. Once tasted, we have a longing to eat more and drink more of His truth. His Word, the Bible is our current issue of the greatest truths of all time that are never outdated and always enough. How much do you desire the Word of God? How much do you feel the need for the Word of God. What are you willing to do to get to spend time with God on a regular basis? Below is a picture of a sheep that is showing a great desire to reach a lick of salt on a sheer cliff. Give in to the longing to taste God’s Word and you will experience a great step forward in your daily walk with God. By the way, the more we taste and see, the more we desire to eat from The Bread of Life. Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
The Pilgrimage continues……
