Mmmm. Needs More Salt

Jesus spoke in Matthew 5:13-16 about who we are as believers. Sometimes we get to thinking we have no impact in the things that are happening in the world around us. But Jesus said we have GREAT impact and He describes it in this way. 13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. 14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Keep in mind this is the Sermon on the Mount and the teachings are for those who are His followers, When Jesus was giving them this pure truth He was giving them something lasting that would impact everyone they met. Some of these people would become believers and then go back to their home and begin to share the message of hope with their family, and their friends, and of course, their neighbors. Jesus heightened their life purpose by letting them know that their lives were important in the world they live in and that He was going to impact their world through them.

Some people don't beileve we have any worth and they are already minimizing the taste of salt in our lives and all that does is STOP what Jesus came to START. When Jesus shared the Sermon on the Mount it was the beginning of something wonderful and world changing. This world changing truth would cause the lost to be saved and add salt to the lives of those believers that would impact far beyond anything they could imagine. We live with that same salt in our lives that impacts our society and also shines a light in the darkness. And how great that darkness is in the world we live in. Mmm We need more salt!!!

Our salt comes from the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives that changes us at our core and turns on a light that cannot be extinquished. Whether you believe it or not you have salt when you have Jesus and that salt has the flavor of hope and eternal life. But if you don't let the flavor of that salt be seen and felt in your life the impact will be restrained and that is NOT God's plan!!! We need more salty Christians in our world today and I know many have been very committed to salting wherever you can, but don't stop now. Keep on going and add more and more salt wherever you go. You may say "what is my salt?" Here it is so read and believe. Paul gives this list in Galatians 5:22-23 22 But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! So....no matter the laws, there is no law against the fruits of the Spirit of God in your life. Let these things be seen in your life and set into motion an unstoppable force that will change the world around you. C'mon you can do it, because Jesus said you could do it!!! I'm trusting God for the details. How about you?

The Pilgrimage continues.....
