Make a Good Connection

ree

I was hooking up a new interface for my studio yesterday, and the USB-C plug was to be connected to the interface and the other end to my Mac computer. I seemingly did everything right, but, no power and no interface working at all. I got online with the company and they gave me many troubleshooting helps, but no power. Hmmm. I checked my connection to the computer, and it was all good, and then I checked the connection on the back of the interface, and I noticed a little bit of silver still showing after I connected it. The solution was I "plugged it in even more by pushing it", and voila, everything lit up and worked perfectly. I had a bad connection. There is a point where plugging it in to actually work takes a firm push, and then it is all connected and working.

How is your connection to God? Do you feel like there is a solid connection for you to pray and walk in His wisdom and grace? If not, lean in a little further, and you might find there is more power and more wisdom just waiting to be found. Here is how I "pushed" more in my faith walk, and maybe this will help you, too.

  1. Your desires: This close walk with God needs to be a priority for you, and you are "all in" on getting connected to God through His Word. If you are suddenly aware you need to make a better connection with God, the Holy Spirit is the one prompting you, because He took over at your conversion. Listen to the Spirit!!

  2. Your Interface: It would do you good to do a deep study on who the Holy Spirit is and how He helps you in your life. The Holy Spirit is the one who does the connecting when it comes to following God, and you may have heard the term Spirit-Filled Life before because that is what it is. The Spirit will guide you as you seek God, and Jesus has opened a "wide" avenue for addressing our Heavenly Father. Hebrews 4:15 This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. 16 So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.

  3. Your Time Alone With God: Distraction is a reality in the world we live in, and it is important to get alone with God without distractions, so we can FOCUS. This time alone is very personal and introspective, and you need to be able to focus on God and His Word intensely. Matthew 6:“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get. But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

  4. Your Focus: Where is your focus? Is it on what Jesus wants or on what you want? It should be on Jesus, and that will make you moldable to the will of God, which is very important in making this deeper connection. Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Eyes on Jesus = perfected faith.

  5. Your Consistency: Some people make their time with God a "habit", but I do it because it is prompted by the Holy Spirit, and my power level goes down when I do not get alone with God at a deeper level. Just sayin.... God wants to meet us in the deeper walk, and He is willing to show us His answers to the deeper things of life. Psalms 42:My soul is in despair within me; Therefore, I remember You from the land of the Jordan and the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar. Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have passed over me. God's grace and power can and will wash over us in the depths of our need, and He will again and again hear our prayers and show us His love and wisdom at the deepest level. Seek God while He may be found and make sure of your connection. Isaiah 55:Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. This is not a how-to type of thing because it is personal to you. So, get personal and Make a Good Connection.

The Pilgrimage Continues,

David Warren
