It's Good to Be Unique

Psalm 139:13 For You created my innermost parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb.14 I will give thanks to You, because [i]I am awesomely and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, And my soul knows it very well.15 My frame was not hidden from You When I was made in secret, And skillfully formed in the depths of the earth;16 Your eyes have seen my formless substance; And in Your book were written All the days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts for me, God! How vast is the sum of them!

God has a plan for you, and He made that plan specifically as He knit you together. He made you unique for a purpose. His purpose. Our world tries to make us less by making us "just another number", but God's plans are perfect for you and perfect for me. Nuf said.

If you have a burning desire that God has given you and He has affirmed it through His Word and the Holy Spirit, then don't back away from it. No one else may understand the way your thoughts are put together, but the Holy Spirit makes those thoughts your life direction. If you are dissatisfied with things around you, God may be telling you to be an agent of change. It may not be running for political office, but it could be standing up in your church and committing to be a change agent in something that is wrong. Just a side note: if you do take a stand for what is right in a "dead" church, you will experience just what the Apostle Paul experienced as he traveled, sharing the gospel.

Paul did not recoil or quit; he took the gospel and the church organization into people's homes that were willing to hear the truth and be changed. Unconventional, especially in those days, but necessary. It would be sad to live a long life and get to the end of that life and not step out in faith to follow God's call for YOUR life. You are uniquely made by God for His purposes and His will, and He has everything set up ahead of time just for you to soar like an eagle on the winds of change. Don't miss it. Pursue it with gusto and conviction, and He will guide you all the way through.

As I am going on my pilgrimage, I see God showing me more and more real truth, and I would have missed this without being open to what God was teaching me. My uniqueness is who God made me to be, even though many times I am totally misunderstood. If I was to write a book about Paul, the title would "The Most Misunderstood Man in the World, and actually that title would work for me also, possibly for you too. Don't despair and worry because you are "different" than the norm, just embrace it and let God use it for His glory and enjoy the ride. It may be bumpy at times, but look at the lives He is touching through your uniqueness! I close with the following scripture written by Paul in Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

The Pilgrimage Continues,

David Warren
