Humility

There are many different aspects of a sanctified life, and this life will go directly in contradiction to the life lived by the world's standards. I started with the most necessary one yesterday, and that is narcissism. Today I am going in the opposite direction and speaking about having a humble walk with God or humility. If we are going to live a holy life, according to God's Word, we are called to be humble, as Jesus was humble. James writes the following in James 4:10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor. When we use the word surrender when speaking about our life direction, humility will always be near the top of the list
, because when we surrender, Jesus takes over and He is humbles, so we will be humble. If we "buck" that, we will find ourselves living in open disobedience, and thus the downward spiral begins, and the upward walk of holy living is thwarted and choked out because pride has jumped in and kept the humble spirit from being all God wants it to be. But if we truly surrender, then that pride monster will be tamed, and it will open our eyes to see that being humble is a strength in the hands of a born-again believer, and God's honor for us will be the reward!
Whether you believe it or not, God is not "raining on our parade", but He is leading us into a faith walk that is powerful and has great peace. The result of our prayers are affected by living this life of surrender that leads to holy living. James also writes this in James 5:16 A prayer of a righteous person, when it is brought about, can accomplish much. All of this comes back to us realizing, "There is only One God, and we are not Him." But if we will humble ourselves before Him and follow His Word, whether we like it or not, God will honor us.
Let the sanctification process become real in your faith walk. Choose to be humble before your God, and He will honor you with many blessings as you walk this road of faith.
The Pilgrimage Continues,
David Warren
