He Is the Evidence

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them away from me, 29 for my Father has given them to me, and he is more powerful than anyone else. No one can snatch them from the Father’s hand.30 The Father and I are one.” 31 Once again the people picked up stones to kill him. 32 Jesus said, “At my Father’s direction I have done many good works. For which one are you going to stone me?” 33 They replied, “We’re stoning you not for any good work, but for blasphemy! You, a mere man, claim to be God.” 34 Jesus replied, “It is written in your own Scriptures that God said to certain leaders of the people, ‘I say, you are gods!’ 35 And you know that the Scriptures cannot be altered. So if those people who received God’s message were called ‘gods,’ 36 why do you call it blasphemy when I say, ‘I am the Son of God’? After all, the Father set me apart and sent me into the world.37 Don’t believe me unless I carry out my Father’s work. 38 But if I do his work, believe in the evidence of the miraculous works I have done, even if you don’t believe me. Then you will know and understand that the Father is in me, and I am in the Father.”

When we are born again we learn to listen to the voice of Jesus and know that He will not lead us wrong. Jesus speaks to the point that we "know" HIs voice when we are truly born again and we follow Him. When we are in this position there is no one who can snatch us away from Jesus. Snatch (def) - quickly seize in a rude or eager way. The enemy wants nothing more than the ability to snatch us away from Jesus and from the faith. Jesus promises that satan cannot do that, and Jesus is more powerful than satan in every way possible. This should give us great confidence in the Savior who now controls our life here on earth and throughout eternity. Jesus says this to His disciples after He is resurrected and this great truth helps us bring into focus just how powerful Jesus really is. Matthew 28: 16 Then the eleven disciples left for Galilee, going to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him—but some of them doubted!

18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

When Jesus says He is "with us," He really is with us every moment of every day, and when He sent the Holy Spirit, He gave us a connection to hear His voice. We can hear His voice through His Word because Jesus is the Word of God. We can hear His voice in our inner person as He speaks peace, love, comfort, and direction to us. Never believe Jesus doesn't speak to you because that makes Him a distant, unreal part of our lives, and that distance was done away with at Calvary by God. He is very near and is speaking to you right now through His Word, and you should desire to hear Him again and again. In the "natural" way of thinking, Jesus can't speak to us, but that thinking limits us from hearing Him, and that doesn't line up with John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. So, what part of that verse are you gonna leave out? Hearing Jesus speak or being known by God, or following Jesus? How about giving up eternal life or not ever perishing? If we are going to "cherry-pick" the verse we accept, then we would need to do that for all verses. JESUS SPEAKS TO US AND WE KNOW HIM!!

In the verses above in Matthew 28 scripture says some doubted. But then Jesus affirms with the following words 18 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. As you can see, all of this connects in a very concise way, and we should never let the lies of satan cause us to doubt at all. Yesterday, I wrote about being "all in," and today is the proof of why we should be all in. We live in His authority, and He fights our battles for us at every turn. That is also a "sending faith" that He gives us as He sends us out to proclaim the Good News to a lost and dying world. On our own, we can do nothing, but in His power, we can do anything!! ALL IN.

The evidence of His calling and the power to live that calling is found in the evidence of His Word. Since the enemy cannot snatch us away from Jesus, we must go out as His disciples, powered by the Holy Spirit, and live our lives in the power of the Holy Spirit and directed by His Word. When we surrender to His will and way He will show us the reason we follow Him and as Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:14 But people who aren’t spiritual can’t receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it, for only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means. 15 Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. 16 For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?”

But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

What is Jesus saying to you right now? If you can't hear anything, maybe you need to get your "spiritual ears" checked, and the one who can open those ears can be found in the Word of God. Time to find out about this Savior you have received into your life and begin to follow what He is telling you to do. JESUS IS SPEAKING according to Him and His Word. Time to LISTEN UP! The evidence is clear. Jesus is speaking.
